LINCOLN PARK BOAT CLUB MAN vs MACHINE
Machine to move boats, and a inclined plane to move people; intersecting where their needs meet. Inspired by the numerous instances of trees and built environment intertwining and entangeling, I sought to create a building which could simultaneously house the extrodinarily scripted process of moving a skulling boat from street level to river level, and the freeform actions of the humans’ daily routine. Stritration across both arms is represented phyically by twists of the facade, and is used to mark shifts in basic functions of the floorplan. The streetside park that remains is for public use, both to allow viewing of the athletes, and to give back the park that once stood on the site.
VIRTUAL vs PHYSICAL A physical realization of virtual space. Through intensive study of the intricacies of virtual spaces, such as those found on Facebook, Youtube, and Reddit, we sought to create a public space which was in someway better than the average. These ideas where then applied to various 2013 Venice Bianalle projects.
