Register now for the The Southern Association of College and University Business Officers 2009 Fall Workshop And the Next Generation Chief Business Officer Institute Register/Apply Now at The 2009 Fall Workshop promises to be an outstanding opportunity for SACUBO members to experience three days of current and relevant professional development and networking. The 2009 Fall Workshop will convene November 1 – 3, along the beautiful Savannah River at the Westin Savannah Harbor Hotel and Conference Center. The Fall Workshop general sessions speakers are headlined by Dr. David Warren, president of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities. Dr. Warren will be the key note speaker on the morning of Monday, November 2, 2009 and will share the effects of federal legislation on business officers in higher education institutions. The program will include a wide range of concurrent sessions, including accounting and reporting issues, debt management, tax issues, risk management, controlling costs and Red Flag compliance. Seasoned college and university business officers and industry professionals will present best practices at these, and other concurrent sessions. Attendees will be better prepared to tackle the many issues facing them when they return home from beautiful Savannah. SACUBO has a limited room block at the Westin Savannah Harbor, so early registration for the workshop and hotel is encouraged. Details on the workshop and hotel can be found at Immediately preceding the Fall Workshop, SACUBO is offering the Next Generation Chief Business Officer Institute. The Institute is designed for non-CFO senior staff in the finance/business division of colleges and universities to share in a unique professional development opportunity. Attendees will learn valuable career skills that will prepare them for the next level of leadership in higher education business and finance. The program is limited to 50 participants and will be held as at pre-workshop program at the Savannah Harbor Hotel and Conference Center on October 31 and November 1, 2009. The program features Larry Goldstein, president, Campus Strategies, LLC and Pat Sanaghan, president, The Sanaghan Group as well as other experienced SACUBO faculty. Participants will develop strategic thinking skills, explore the range of issues confronting senior finance staff in an academic setting, learn how to deal with complex ethical issues and examine leadership styles implications for the CFO role. Applicants for the Institute must hold a Bachelors degree and currently hold a CFO-track position and/or a letter of recommendation from the institution’s upper administration indicating that the candidate has the knowledge, skills and abilities to benefit from participating in this exclusive program. The Institute has limited space and SACUBO has a limited room block at the Westin Savannah Harbor. Early applications for the Institute and hotel reservations are essential.
