Children with SLI seem to vary in whether they use many general nominals & few personal social words (eg: please, thank you,) or the converse (Weiss, Leonard, Rowan 1983). By the time children with SLI begin to produce multi word utterances their lexical abilities are not so easily characterized as matching those of younger normally developing children. Verbs in particular begin to show deficiencies that seems to go beyond the general lag in these children lexical abilities. KUNNAMPALLIL GEJO JOHN
