What is the relationship between 'Late talkers' and SLI The child who is late to begin talking, both in terms of acquisition of first words , and production of first word combinations, maybe at particular risk for the development of SLI. The proportions often discussed are between 25 to 50% children diagnosed as 'late talkers' eventually are diagnosed as SLI. Due to the variability in developmental course, Leonard (1998) has suggested that a diagnosis of SLI prior to age 3 is not yet a . possibility. KUNNAMPALLIL GEJO JOHN
