I see Tamara as a fervent individual, at one with her artistry. To be in her home is like walking into one of her paintings. She is at the same time tough and wonderfully naïve in a constructive sense and does not shy away from the harsh things in life. Who else would make her way among dying people in Bombay while pushing her beloved child in a pram, her heart bleeding with anger and grief? This is why Tamara’s paintings are like nothing else!

The idea of being airborne has fascinated man throughout the ages, The urge to be borne by the winds to other spaces and countries is embedded in our genes. It is this urge that Charlotte addresses in her pieces. There is a strong hint of social criticism in Charlotte’s objects. Intolerance and body fixation are two things she is especially critical of. Putting yourself first while viewing everybody else with suspicion is a common phenomenon in today’s society. Here, Charlotte’s sense of humor and inventiveness celebrate triumphs in which no one is safe from scrutiny. National symbols are open to questioning in a world such as ours in which migrations are vast and know no borders. Charlotte’s works are often interactive. Her machines come to life with assistance from the viewers. Like sleeping birds that begin to test their wings with the aid of human power. Gigantic metal wings start to flap in contexts that may be likened to the fitness apparatus that we subject ourselves to in our struggle for more beautiful bodies for a more beautiful world. The air carries oxygen into our lungs and the movements of her artworks create enormous energies in the air space. Charlotte is a highly intense person and when she moves around in her small apartment at Nørrebro in Copenhagen you have the impression of a colorful bird in a cage with many ways to escape. Jazz is a fundamental element in Charlotte’s work and represents one way out. Her pieces may be compared to wide-range wind instruments in a jazz band.
