Abigail Anderson

Senior Butterfly, Backstroke Hendersonville, Tenn. • Hendersonville HS 2010-11 (Junior): Continued to be one of the top swimmers for Kansas in the butterfly and backstroke events... She scored 77 points for the Jayhawks at the 2011 Big 12 Championships... Was a part of the 200 medley relay team, which finished in third place, as well as the 200 freestyle and 400 medley relay teams that finished fourth... Compiled career-best times in three individual events during Big 12’s with her 53.47 performance and sixth-place finish in the 100 butterfly... She also took eighth in the 100 backstroke (53.56) and 10th in the 200 back (1:57.52)... At the Georgia Invite, Anderson competed in the 50 freestyle for first the time in her collegiate career, where she finished with a time of 25.04.... She had at least the fifth fastest time on her team in six different events during 2010-11, with her 53.47 being the best in the 100-yard butterfly. 2009-10 (Sophomore): Scored 30 total points for the team at the 2010 Big 12 Championships… Placed eighth in the 100-yard butterfly (55.19), eighth in the 100-yard backstroke (54.83) and 11th in the 200-yard backstroke (1:58.76)… Achieved her career-best times in those three events during the preliminary round of the Big 12 Championships… Took third in the 50-yard butterfly (26.08) against Iowa State… Was part of the third place 400-yard medley relay team (3:47.16) and second place team in Career Best Times the the 200-yard medley relay at the UVA Invitational… 100 Fly............ 53.47 (2011 Big 12’s) Placed third in the finals of the 200-yard butterfly 100 Back........ 53.56 (2011 Big 12’s) (56.71) and fifth in the finals of the 100 backstroke 200 Back..... 1:57.52 (2011 Big 12’s) (56.92) at the UVA Invite. 2008-09 (Freshman): A member of the two school recordsetting medley relay teams… Swam the butterfly leg of the thirdplace-finishing KU 200 and 400 medley relay teams at the 2009 Big 12 Championships, which broke the school records with times of 1:38.45 and 3:38.45… Placed sixth in the 100 butterfly (54.31), eighth in the 100 backstroke (54.98) and 10th in the 200 backstroke (1:58.51) at the 2009 Big 12 Championships… Was one of Kansas’ top point earners at the Big 12 Championships, combining for 95 points including the relays… Had KU’s seasonbest time in the 100 butterfly and its second-best times in the 100 and 200 backstroke events… In addition, her 200 backstroke of 1:58.51 was the second-best in school history… Her 100 backstroke time of 54.98 ranked as third-best in school history and her 100 butterfly time is the fourth-best.

High School (Hendersonville): A four-year letterwinner in swimming... Named the school’s Swimmer of the Year for four years... Placed second in the state 100 fly and earned an automatic All-American and a U.S. Open/National time... Placed in the top eight in all events she competed at state... Holds the high school’s record for the 100 butterfly, 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle... All-American in the 100 backstroke all four years, the 500 freestyle for her freshman and sophomore seasons and the 100 butterfly her senior year... Also won high school honors for journalism and drama. Personal: Born in Hendersonville, Tenn... Parents are Nita and Bud Anderson... Majoring in journalism.
