Bud Walker Patio Named after Clayton “Bud” Walker, the patio gives top-tier members of the Diamond Club a different perspective to watching the Jayhawks at Hoglund Ballpark. Walker has committed himself to helping young people in the Lawrence community. Walker is the driving force behind the Jayhawks’ “Caring for Kids” program which gives area youth the chance to attend games and participate in special events such as throwing out the ceremonial first pitch. Walker graduated from Kansas in 1956 with a degree in business administration. He served his country for three years in the Korean War, and returned to KU to complete his degree. Following graduation, Walker founded and ran several different companies, including Vinyltech Corp., in 1983, which he sold in 2000 to retire to his hometown of Pittsburg, Kansas. Bud and his wife, Margaret, who is also a KU grad, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. The couple has two sons, Michael and the late David Walker, and three grandkids: Paige, Hayden and Sophie.

Mabry Academic Center Named after former KU baseball and basketball player Guy Mabry, the academic center provides a peaceful environment for current Jayhawk ball players to hit the books and take care of their studies. Mabry pitched and played outfield for Kansas from 1946-50, and was offered a chance to play professionally, which he turned down, to go work for Owens-Corning Fiberglass. He served as executive vice president of the company until he retired. He and his wife, Rosa Lee, reside in Aurora, Colorado and have three children, two of whom, Michael and Tom, attended KU.
