Details Date: 13th September 2012

Register your interest now for the 3rd in a series of 2012 workshops being promoted by the UK Industrial Biotechnology Leadership Forum

Leading IB: The UK is leading the way in Industrial Biotechnology and this series of workshops aims to showcase the UKs strengths in the field. Leading IB: Focus on Bio-Based Products is the third of a series of workshops throughout 2012 being delivered by the IBLF. Focus on Bio-Based Products: The market and opportunities for renewable chemicals is growing, driven by consumer demand, governmental policy and economic shift as the price of crude oil increases. Industrial biotechnology routes to renewable chemicals as either drop-in replacements and / or novel bio-based materials are promising new technological advances within this field. The markets most likely to exploit bio-based platform chemicals as raw materials include polymers (e.g. packaging), solvents (e.g. printing), resins (e.g. inks), surfactants/detergents and personal care products. Objectives of the Workshop: This workshop will showcase some of the UK companies already engaged in the bio-based products markets as well as leading academic institutions. In addition there will be ample time for networking and opportunities to meet potential collaborators, find out more about upcoming funding calls and identify gaps in the technology. This workshop is aimed at both those in industry and academia who are already working in aspects of bio-based products or thinking about ways and means to tap into this market.
