Project Description Inspired by the shape Study of the body of the Stegosaurus, who lived in Canada during the late Jurassic Period

Exposed bones helped to maintain the temperature of the body

Curved panels imitate the back bones and create shadows for the building

Saurus Residence was the academic project that enters the OAAAS competition during the fifth semester at Georg Brown Gollege. Completed in group of four students, Saurus Residence was designed using the maximum allowed building coverage, providing more renting space for suites and amenities in the building. Sustainable features, compliance with OBC and LEED standards are demonstrated and outlined in the Final Presentation Drawings.

Project Details The building hight is 46m out of 80m allowed. It was made with an idea of not to desturbe the view for buildings behind, minimizing the wind effect and structure’s weight. Saurus Residence has 14 levels in total, with different types of units: studios, one dendrooms + den, two bedrooms, three bedrooms and penthouse suites on the top floor. Green accessible roof, vegetative patios and amenity floor are created to connect occupants with nature.

The Warehouse is devided into two main components: the warehouse space itself for recieving goods and storage, and the office space, that takes place on the first floor near the main entrance and the whole second floor. Glazed curtain wall pannels are applied all over the offices to accomodate natural light patterns and natural heating effect, giving the warm comfortable working envi ronment.

Bulbs' Centre Project Details Date: 2018 Type: Second Year Structures Contributors: Sofia Mixonova, Ekaterina Timakova

Project Description

The Bulbs’ Centre focuses on the developing a wide are of Tommy Tompson Park into the urban agricultural park with lots of activities. The land locates right within the city on the very South and has fascinating view on the Lake Ontario and the city’s skyline on the West. Shape of the Bulds’ Centre has a very simple round geometry plan but on the elevation side it occurs as a group of masses, where every one of them has a unique unsymmet rical bulb’s shape. As bulbs rise, they turn to narrow tubes with large skylights on the top in an angle facing the sun path. It gives a feeling of structure, that grow from the ground and naturally owns it’s place.

Agricultural activities depend on the season. Visitors can enjoy vegetables festivals in Spring, experience landscape during picnics in Summer and Fall.Finally, winter is for respecting the silence of nature and creating ice sculptures. Bulbsâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; Centre as a camp: up to 25 children and supervisors have the opportunity to take a part into seasonal plantations. Cafeteria serves organic green products that were grown on site.

Second Floor Plan

The main structure of the Bulbsâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; Centre is a mix of steel frame components, composite beams and decks. Th space frame is composed of a special steel tube-andnodes system. The aim of this system was to create a smooth surface, which was achieved by applying Fiber Reinforced Plastic Exterior Panels on top.
