Not only is their Precision Flight Team the best in the country, but Kent State recently acquired a new Air Traffic Control Simulation Lab. I’m in the air traffic control concentration, and the new Sim Lab is an excellent tool that eases students into real life situations that will prepare us for the future. The professors in the College of Applied Engineering, Sustainability and Technology are always supportive and help their students reach their full potential. I am looking forward to continuing my education in the aeronautics program at Kent State. Lisa Dory Aeronautics Greenford, Ohio

The reason I chose Kent State, aside from its nationally ranked fashion program, was the welcoming feel I got from the school during my college visits. Of all my college tours, this was the place where I saw myself getting the most out of the many opportunities offered. I got involved in many clubs and organizations my freshman year, including Modista Minority Fashion Group, where I currently serve as the vice president. I have had the opportunity to plan and work on many fashion shows and photo shoots. The faculty and staff of the School of Fashion Design and Merchandising have made it so easy to build personal relationships and are available to help find internships, scholarships and even job opportunities. I participated in the New York City education-away program in the fall of 2011. During my time in New York, I was able to find a fashion internship at Vogue Magazine, attend classes in the garment district, volunteer during fashion week and explore the city. Because of the valuable skills I learned, I was able to return to New York the following summer to intern for Calvin Klein. Kent State was definitely the best choice for me and has opened up so many doors. I would advise incoming freshmen to take advantage of every opportunity, get involved and make connections! The experience of visiting Kent State University was truly remarkable. Amity students got the opportunity of learning about American culture, work ethos, and executing an international journalism project. I was impressed with the emphasis that Kent State gives on experiential learning: their student media lab is one of the best that I have seen, not only in terms of infrastructure but also in terms of student involvement. I saw the TV2 station in action when President Obama visited Kent, and the students did an extremely professional job of covering the visit. Benefits of being in a Living-Learning Community: • The average cumulative GPA for students in Living-Learning Communities was higher compared to those who did not live in a Living-Learning Community. • Living-Learning Community students complete more credit hours than non-Living-Learning Community students. • Living-Learning Community students are more likely to continue at Kent State University for their sophomore year. • Students are more engaged in the campus community. • Students have access to academic support from the academic and hall staff.
