Advanced Beginner Knitting

Expand on and incorporate skills learned in Beginning Knitting by making a simple, well fitting drop shoulder pullover or cardigan sweater in the worsted weight wool of your choice. Learn how to read knitting patterns, make a guage swatch and take the right measurements from a favorite sweater to choose your size. Once the back, front and sleeves are complete we will block and seam your garment using vertical and horizontal seaming techniques. Finally, we will pick up the bands around the neck or cardigan fronts. This tile game, similar to gin rummy or dominoes, is an Asian favorite and an exciting alternative to card games. Learn the basic rules and play of the game. Enjoy a fun and challenging experience. Bridge in the 21st Century Part II - Play of the Hand

The second in a new series of classes developed by the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL) designed to introduce a new player to the game of duplicate bridge. This second course PLAY OF THE HAND IN THE 21ST CENTURY focuses on the play of the hand. This class is a stand alone class and the first course in the series is not

a prerequisite for this class; however, students should be familiar with bidding concepts introduced in the first class. The focus of the class will be on declarer play. Bridge in the 21st CenturyPart V- Intermediate Play and Bidding

This course is designed to help players improve bidding, declarer play and defensive techniques. Concepts include planning the contract, developing extra tricks, basic card combinations, when to pull trump (or not), how to read your opponents cards, when and how to compete in the bidding and more. Each class will consist of students bidding and playing 8-12 pre-dealt hands, followed by bidding and card play analysis with the instructor, with dulpicate-type scoring (matchpoints). While emphasis is on dulpicate bridge tactics and scoring, the course will also be beneficial to players playing social bridge. This course does require a basic understanding and experience playing bridge.
