Leaning on magical Dubrovnik and beautiful Konavle, in which the spirit of past times can still be felt and the centuries old traditions of our ancestors experienced, Cavtat is the ideal destination for rest, where everyone can find something for themselves: enjoying the tranquillity of secluded coves and long walks along the waterfront, or spending an active holiday with a choice of sports and recreational activities, excursions, fun and cultural programmes. The Cavtat Summer is a cultural and entertainment event with classical music and jazz concerts, Dalmatian Klapas (vocal harmony groups), dance events and folklore group performances. The Cavtat Summer Carnival is held on the last weekend in July and includes performances by numerous groups of street entertainers, jugglers and performers. The finale of the Cavtat Summer always belongs to the Klapa gathering entitled “Cast your eyes on me”. The event brings together eight of the best Klapas from Dubrovnik and other parts of Croatia in the last weekend of September. All performances are held on the Cavtat Summer stages and are free.
The Ston diocese is the oldest in Croatia. For this reason, every visit to Ston is a direct contact with ancient times and events. Located on the beautiful Pelješac peninsula, which was often the target of conquerors, the 5.5km long walls once protecting the town’s salt pans bear the scars of centuries of struggle to preserve the native culture. The outcomes of these struggles are best seen as part of the Ston Summer event. During the summer months, the streets of Ston are filled with concerts, fashion shows and Klapas (vocal harmony groups) singing. With the town’s tradition of shellfish farming and salt production, it is also a unique opportunity to visit Ston’s restaurants and taverns.
