NOTICE

KAMPERSRUS - Vir menige ouer was die aanbreek van die nuwe skoolkwartaal ‘n uitkoms. Gedurende die Desemberskoolvakansie het die toekomstige graad eens die slapies afgetel voordat die skool begin. Woensdag, 12 Januarie, het hulle gestewel en gespoor met skooltas en kosblik by Laerskool Mariepskop opgedaag. Vir sommige is dit die laaste keer dat die skoolskoene gedra sal word voor die prysuitdeling aan die einde van die jaar – en dan is die skoene gewoonlik te klein! Blinkoog en opgewonde het hulle hul splinternuwe klas en lewensfase betree en almal was ontspanne en rustig by Juffrou Lida wat slaggereed was vir die nuwelinge. Nie eers ‘n enkele traan is gestort nie! (Ouers uitgesonderd op die reël!)

Met saalopening het hulle nie eers omgekyk na hul ouers wat gespanne in die agterbanke gesit het nie. Meneer De Meyer het hulle hartlik verwelkom en gesê dat hy sommer kan sien hulle is die mooiste en slimste graad eens in die wêreld en dat hy vreeslik bly is dat hulle deel is van die skool. Tydens eerste pouse is die skoene uitgeskop, die kosblikke opgewonde oopgemaak en was die nuwelinge tuis in hul nuwe skool. Sommiges het selfs hoog en laag gesweer dat hulle reeds kan lees na slegs een dag by die skool! (Dit is natuurlik waar as in ag geneem word dat daar ‘n prent by elke woord is!) Al die bekommerde pappas en mammas kan ook maar ontspan. Die kleingoed is gereed om die eerste treë van die grootwordproses te gee.

HOEDSPRUIT - Om matriek suksesvol te slaag is ‘n droom vir enige matrikulant, maar om 7 onderskeidings te behaal is eintlik net iets wat ‘n pa en ma soms in hul wildste drome droom. Vir Richenda Wright, oud-leerling van Laerskool Drakensig, het al die harde werk van 12 jaar eindelik vrugte afgewerp. Richendahetdievolgendepuntein haar Nasionale Senior Sertifikaat eksamen behaal: Afrikaans 90%, Engels 88%, Wiskunde 89%, Lewensoriëntering 95%, Rekeningkunde 80%, Lewenswetenskappe 89%, Fisiese Wetenskappe 85%. Sy het ook ‚n Onafhanklike Eksamenraad eksamen in Gevorderde Program Wiskunde geskryf en 72% behaal. Verder het Richenda die Presidentsverkenner toekenning in Voortrekkers behaal, wat gelykstaande aan Springbokklere in sport is. Sy het daarvoor en vir haar vorige akademiese prestasies erekleure by die skool ontvang. Sy het in 2010 ook Afrikaans, Engels en LO vaktoekennings ontvang en is as die beste Engelse redenaar en die leerder met die beste kulturele prestasie vir die

jaar aangewys. Richenda skryf graag musiek en bespeel die klavier en het jaarliks by die skool se revue gesing. Vir ontspanning lees of kyk sy graag fliek. Sy geniet ook die buitelewe en is van plan om terug te keer na die Laeveld sodra sy haar graad in Spraak- en Taalpatologie aan die Universiteit van Pretoria verwerf het. ‘Ek wil my Doktorsgraad ook doen, maar dit sal moet wag tot ná ek begin praktiseer het. Buitendien, oom Charl Auret het gesê hy sal eerste daar wees sodat ek van sy brei ontslae kan raak en almal weet hy het nie geduld nie…’ Richenda is beslis ‘n jong dame met wie daar rekening gehou moet word. Sy beoog ook om opslae te maak in kinder-terapie, maar, soos alle goeie dinge, moet sy hard werk daarvoor. Richenda; ons Drakieonderwysers, - ouers en leerders is verskiklik trots op jou! Ons wéét dat dit goed sal gaan met jou studies! Baie sterkte! Baie geluk ook aan alle ander matrikulante uit Hoedspruit wat goed in hulle eindeksamens presteer het.
