SPEC SUITE Coop 2016 During my coop internship at Architecture Incorporated, I got to work on numerous commercial office projects. My job ranged from drafting to working on design strategies, material selections and lighting selections. The documented project is a Spec suite being built to accommodate new start up companies. I played with the ceiling heights and angles of the space to create a fun but welcoming atmosphere. The design palette is neutral and monochromatic with some industrial lighting to add color. Skills used: Revit, Adobe Photoshop, Materials Selection, Lighting Selection

BERKLEY COUNTY OFFICE Coop 2017 During my coop internship at Glick-Boehm and Associates, I worked on a variety of projects that ranged from public libraries to as-builts. The documented project is the Berkley County office. I worked on the Construction Document set which included drafting and 3D modeling. This project gave me a deeper understanding of how to detail walls and connections and the important role they play. Skills used: Revit, Adobe Photoshop

MCMILLAN APARTMENTS Architecture Studio 2017 - Spring This is a multi-family housing complex, a part of the housing studio. The project contains 22 apartments ranging from 1 to 3 bedrooms, parking and retail space. The site contains an existing slope and initial surveys revealed the existing real estate pattern. Using this information, I separated housing from retail and elevated the housing side to accommodate for parking. To gain maximum lighting and views, I created U-shape with variation in heights. This created a semi-private square in the center for resident use. The building materials are concrete and timber. The public areas would have reclaimed timber as the contrast would draw the attention away from private spaces.. Skills used: AutoCAD, SketchUp, VRay, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator

NEWPORT ROW FACILITY Architecture Studio 2016 - Summer The project is a Row Facility for the Junior Rowing Club of Cincinnati at a site along the banks of Newport, Kentucky where the Licking river and Ohio river merge. It is a unique site, with an existing curved levee and open fields on both sides. The main ideas I explored while designing were how to use both sides of the levee and create buildings that are separate but speak to each other. The boat storage is near the river and the row facility is on the flat side of the levee. Skills used: Rhinoceros, AutoCAD, Casting and Molding, Model Making Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator

We started with casting and molding rockite and plaster. I explored the idea of corrugation and creating a system that would work for the mushy land on the river side of the levee. This idea led to the slope retention strategy of Slope Fascines that I used for one of the buildings. Another idea explored was of floating the deck using stronger materials like concrete. I used foam as a base and casted a slab of concrete that can float in water.

For the buildings, The structural columns guided the programming and the skin wrapped around it. The interior walls also mimic the wrapping. There is a separation between administrative and member facilities programs. The two are connected by stramps (stairs+ramp) over the levee and to the river. The stairs would have more organic materiality like stone and grass vs the ramp that would be concrete and would speak to the floating deck.


SECTION - WATER SQUARE

LANDSCAPING Another challenge for this vast site was to landscape the rest of the space for public use. Analyzing the flooding and the rainy weather of the area, I incorporated water squares on the site. These were originally used by Studio Marco Vermeulen for a project in Netherlands. They’re excellent to utilize for public enjoyment when dry and harvest rainwater when it is raining.

LANDSCAPING PLAN


CINCINNATI ATHENAEUM Architecture Studio 2015 - Fall The athenaeum was the first full scale design project. I wanted to create an interesting blend of exterior and interior spaces. I based my design on the ideas of massing, stepping, openness and light with some inspiration from the works of Tadao Ando. The stepping creates a mix of interior and exterior spaces. The two exterior spaces are connected by an outdoor staircase. It has three main materials, White cement, Glass and Wood. This combination makes the design stand out from the rest of the buildings. HOLZ UND STEIN Architecture Studio 2017 - Fall This is a part of a gallery installation following a 7 week travel trip in Europe. While exploring Switzerland and the observing the architecture, we saw the use of natural materials found locally in the area like wood and stone. Inspired from Swiss architecture, resulted the armature in collaboration with 5 other students. We chose to incorporate 3 elements; wood, steel and concrete. The interior structure uses douglas fir with hidden joints, reinforced by steel turnbuckles. The exterior is cladded with walnut CLT panels and perforated light screens. I worked on the design and construction of the structure and the screens. Skills used: Sketching, Crafting Wood and Steel

THE FOLLY Architecture Studio 2015 - Spring The concept of this project was to make a space that can interact with the human body. This is the final model that was built and the dimensions are 4’x 4’ x 8’. It is built using 2’x 4’ wood and 1/4” MDF. This was a group project. The design is based on symmetry. It has four seating places. Another idea used in the design is that of wrapping, the wood and the mdf structures wrap around the whole object. I worked on the design concept, and the construction. Skills used: Hand-drafting, Collage, Crafting Wood
