Food  Safety  Training:       Food  Storage:           Food  Service  Provider:           In  its  first  three  years,  UVM  FeelGood  worked  tirelessly  to  forge  a  viable  relationship  with  Sodexo  on  campus,  as   the  idea  of  a  non-­‐profit,  student-­‐run  food  operation  was  completely  new  and  was  seen  as  competition.  In  fall   2008,  as  a  well-­‐established  and  credible  student  organization,  we  set  our  sights  on  establishing  deli  operations  in   the  newly  constructed  student  union,  known  as  the  Davis  Center,  where  Sodexo  had  exclusive  rights  as  a  food   vendor  and  caterer.    UVM  FeelGood  leaders  met  with  administrators  in  Student  Life,  Davis  Center  Operations,   and  Sodexo  to  understand  what  process  was  necessary  to  realize  this  dream  and  went  to  work.       In  time,  the  chapter  forged  a  formal  contract  with  Sodexo,  allowing  them  to  sell  gourmet  grilled  cheese  three   days  a  week  for  lunch.  The  contract  agreements  are  crucial  for  everyone  involved,  as  they  clearly  state  what  the   chapter’s  parameters  are,  address  such  issues  as  risk  management,  and  define  boundaries  for  what  we  can  sell   when  and  where.     We  collectively  revisit  the  contract  on  an  annual  basis  to  reaffirm  where  we  are  headed  and  ensure  lines  of   communication  are  established  with  new  FeelGood  leaders.  Today,  many  Sodexo  staff  are  huge  fans  and  regular   customers  of  UVM  FeelGood;  they  all  love  us!     In  spring  2010,  another  dimension  of  the  chapter’s  relationship  emerged  as  FeelGood  became  an  approved   caterer  for  campus  meetings  and  events  alongside  Sodexo  and  some  local  companies.  Sodexo’s  endorsement  of   FeelGood  in  this  capacity  is  a  clear  demonstration  of  the  two  organization’s  mutual  respect  and  confidence;   none  of  this  would  have  been  possible  without  Sodexo’s  willingness  to  help  UVM  FeelGood  identify  and   achieve  professional  standards  for  our  deli  operations.
