She’s All That Regal, inspirational, talented; There’s much to say about our feature femme Kristina Yukilevich. Article By: Morena Y. and Chelsea K.
n this day and age it is a
considerably difficult task to catch site of girls that are not only stylish, but preeminently inspirational. The minute we got assigned this feature article, one gal in particular came to mind. Quite the alluring individual herself, Kristina Yukilevich is definitely a character you must watch out for. As Secretary of S Club at her high school in California, the Moscow native takes pride in her position. “S Club is just a small part of a larger organization that benefits women and girls,” says the graduating senior. “When I first joined the S Club in my freshman year, I was only concerned with fulfilling my
40 hours of required community service. However, meeting so many wonderful people and giving back to the community through service has been a source of constant satisfaction.”
Her charity work isn’t the only matter worthy of note. With a thirteenyear dance background under her belt, Yukilevich cannot be deemed as a onetrick pony. “Dance has just been a natural part of my life. I guess it was mutual. I mean, in Russian families, you get the choice of ballet, gymnastics, or chess, and luckily I fell in love with ballet,” she marvels. “But a while after, I decided that ballet wasn't the career path for me and I began ballroom and Latin dance.
It is truly my passion.”
When asked if dance is the career she will pursue, she doesn’t hesitate to answer, “I don’t really see it as a lifetime career, but definitely throughout college it’s something I’d like to do.” This lead to the thoughtprovoking question we had in store for the Russian Ballerina. Where does she see herself within the next ten years of her life? After a moment of silent thought she says, “After dance and college I see myself as an editor for a big fashion magazine.” We weren’t surprised to hear this. Any day of the week Yukilevich can be sighted around campus in her simplistic chic wardrobe presenting such a regal aura, complimented by her natural grace. Even wearing the most basic of ensembles she still exudes the presence of a young Christy Turlington. Yukilevich is one to prove that what you wear isn’t nearly as important as how you wear it. She quickly adds an after thought as to what she sees happening in the next ten years, “Also, I want to marry young and have a large family of my own. I want 5 kids!” We definitely expected that. You see, in her free time she keeps herself occupied with one particular child. She states, “When I'm not busy with school, charity work, or dance, I love hanging out with my four year old sister, Roma.” Such a sweet girl indeed. As the interview closely drew to an end, it seemed as if our feature femme was not giving herself enough credit considering her achievements we just discussed. As a final thought, we asked for the one attribute she’d like our readers to know about. Nonetheless she goes on with her modest attitude and states, “There really isn’t anything.” After a moment she decides to add, “Well I guess I want them to know how determined I am and that I am very ambitious,” cue her smile that reflects her sweet amourpropre. “And also I am a true idealist,” she says. “I love to appreciate beauty and perfection in the world around us.” And with that, the interview ends. We’ve never had more of a pleasure in interviewing a contributor with such a lovely capacity to make you smile. –M. & C.
