YUGEN Awaken thoughts and feelings through nature inspired designs and dynamic lighting technology.
Antimicrobial Yugen is manufactured to have no exposed seams resulting in easy to clean surfaces and no grooves for bacteria to nest in. Gesture control technology allows for touch-free activation leading to the reduced spread of bacterial infections.
Hospital Lighting Unit Yugen stands unobtrusively against the hospital room wall available via gesture control by patient and staff. Aided by USB charging ports and a dynamic light that adjust to the time of day, this versatile lighting unit is suitable for in-patient rooms next to hospital beds.

Features The upper casing holds a warm light for patient view while the lower vertical casing holds a colder task light for hospital staff. Adapting to the time of day, the light gradually dims to aid patients in coordinating their circadian rythem resulting in increased health and proper sleep patterns.

Made from plywood, MDF, foam, filler, acrylic, and car paint, this 1:1 model is able to represent how the light would look and function in a hospital room. Lighting dimming and gesture control were activated with an arduino set up, some proximity sensors, and LED strips with diffusing casing.

An aesthetically pleasing milk bottle that bridges the traditional milk jug with a modern day packaging. Designed with a curved body and flip up cap, DolcĂŠ is usable by people with poor dexterity such as children, elderly, and the neurologically impaired.
Starting with a modern rectangular profile, DolcĂŠ moves towards a traditional milk jug for aesthetic and ergonomic purposes.

Desk option Dosalu, short for dose off in aluminum, is a suspended bed that promotes product life cycle longevity by adapting to growing consumers and offering multiple uses. The bed expands from a crib to a toddler bed to a single bed simply by expanding and contracting the base frame and arms. This modular mechanism allows for parents to keep the bed in use throughout their childâ€™s entire life, and even reuse it for the new generation of children. In addition to being a modular bed, Dosalu can be flipped over and turned into a desk - consumers can order a thin aluminum table top to fit the size they which to set the frame at.
The aluminum frame is lightweighted using carved out triangles to reduce how much material is used while still retaining superior itâ€™s superior strength. The frame supports wooden arms that adjust in height to meet various bed setting requirements. The frame holds Pellicle, a body conforming suspension fabric, which replaces traditional wood slats and box springs. Providing sup ergonomic support, and of ease of recycling into other rubber products at end of life. Vita Talalay, a natural latex mattress designed for ergonomic comfort and breathability, lays on top of the Pellicle suspension fabric.
Reworx, a high performance biodegradable textile, serves as support to the suspension fabric as well as a comfortable sleeve for the mattress to lay in. We designed Dosalu with the parent and child in mind. This bed system aims towards sustainability with itâ€™s employment of cradle to cradle materials, modular adjustments to fit a growing child, consideration of changing needs, and allowance of material separation to promote optimal disposal at end of product life.

The selection of materials that come from recycled or rapidly renewable sources was important to us as mattresses usually use a combination of technical materials that are impossible to dissasemble and seperate. Dosalu is designed for easy dissasembly meaning customers can recycle or compost the materials. We chose the materials considering that at end of life, optimally customers would donate their product or call Dosalu for proper disposal of the parts, however we took under account that a good amount will dispose of it themselves and made it as easy as possible for them to do so. Aluminum played a large factor in our design as we wanted to ensure the bed frame could be extended and shortened over a 20yr+ lifespan without the hinges giving out as it might with regular wood.

Dosalu plans on generating free PR coverage by being featured in sustainability articles as well as parenting advice blogs. This product is available for sale directly through the manufacturer and online suppliers.
Manufacturing is powered by wind and solar energy and employs waterjet machining to cut ends and patterns - this technique can operate reusing the same water and does not give off any harmful chemicals.
Dosalu is designed to stay in use for generations offering multiple functions adapting to a growing family. Consumers can order new suspension fabric, mattresses, and aluminum desktop piece as their children grow and have new needs.
Orders are sent out using conventional shipping methods to only employ the services as orders come in. Parts are designed to be lightweight and easy to ship in a compact box to save on cost and CO2 emissions.
Consumers are shipped prepaid shipping boxes to send off wood, aluminum, and steel parts. Materials are either reused for new beds or recycled for profit.
END OF LIFE
Dosalu is a modular bed fit for all ages. The sizes and settings are based an infant cot bed, baby crib, toddler bed, and full size single bed. Parts are easy to adjust and ergonomically designed to be handled by single parents. This modular mechanism also adheres to populationâ€™s varying heights and possibly limited bedroom space. Aluminum is the primary material used to avoid wearing down of wooden hinges and attachments, something we observed during research phase. As the child grows, the crib mattress can be split into two pillows to be used in the toddler bed. Larger mattresses can be rolled back up in the sleeve they came in and stored for future use. While Dosalu is primarily a bed, it can be used as a desk by flipping over the base and arms and adding a thin aluminium sheet as the desktop. This multi-functional design allows for the product to adapt to parentâ€™s varying needs over a long period of time.
Dosalu was designed to simplify proper disposal at the end of life. Beds are usually extremely heavy and impossible to break apart meaning they end up on sidewalks or in landfills. When looking to dispose of a Dosalu bed, customers have the option of donating, calling the company for shipping options, or disassembling and disposing of parts themselves. Each part is light enough to be carried by one person and small enough to fit into a standard recycling or composting bin. If parts are processed back through the company, the customer is mailed a prepaid box with indications as to where each part should be placed.
