Editorial Reviews Review This fast paced thriller-mystery by homicide and narcotics investigator, Chris Swinney, hooks the reader on page one (sort of like a bass) and keeps that reader on the line till the very last page. Dix and Petersen are likable guys, two colleagues just trying to enjoy a fishing vacation in a paradise setting, when they happen upon some foul play. How can two top-flight narcotics officers resist a lure like that? Now, they are the ones who are hooked! You will be, too. I love the short chapters-- they keep the action fresh. Never a dull moment. -Marta Chausee

A friend of mine just gave me this book and recommended reading it as she thought it was a really good mystery by a new author. She was absolutely right. Gray Ghost kept me reading till late in the night to see if Dix can save the day. The author is very knowledgeable with the weapons used as well as the tactics involved in a drug take down. I even checked out the Springfield XD subcompact pistol used in the book to see if it was truly a real weapon. Sure enough. Looking forward to the next one in the series. Kudos to the author. -Ken

By Richard smith on August 13, 2013 Format: Paperback Amazon Verified Purchase In a sea of anti-police rhetoric, its nice to see 'Gray Ghost' stand out for its clarity, honesty and willingness to explain the underworld of drugs and focus on good cops. C.L. Swinney, being a recognized expert in the field of narcotics investigation takes the reader on a thrill ride of suspense that grabs a hold of you from page one and doesn't let go until the end. Being an investigator myself I can vouch for Swinney's knowledge as it was displayed throughout the book in the form of tactics and common practices used by today's enforcement agents. Swinney hit a home run with this fictional piece that made this reader feel as if I was reading courtroom transcripts from an actual case file. A page turner does not describe how wonderful and easily this book reads. Rest assured I will be first in line for the second book this wonderful new Author comes out with. -Rick Smith

Gray Ghost is CL Swinney's first novel, and lucky for us, not his last. While mis-spellings are profuse (hence the not '5' star rating) CL's story line has all the makings of a major motion picture movie. Yes really. Using the Carribbean as the locale, CL plops two city cops into the mix; snarky, wise-crackin' and high-connected cops. They quickly integrate with the locals to uncover two murders, drugs and .... well you'll just have to read the rest now, won't you?
