There were all types of fun friendship activities that included skits, crafts and unique games focusing on the ins and outs and highs and lows of friendship. One main lesson they taught the younger Girl Scouts was to always T-H-I-N-K before speaking: T - is it true? H - is it helpful? I - is it inspiring? N - is it necessary? K - is it kind? These Cadettes felt passionate about teaching the younger girls tips and skills to better prepare themselves for their upcoming Junior High years as the Cadettes are well aware that friendship is not always an easy road. How would you feel if you saved a kid’s life? StandUp For Kids is an all volunteer organization dedicated to saving the lives of at-risk and homeless kids through volunteer outreach efforts. Our volunteers search the streets in their lives. Every day throughout the US thirteen kids die on the streets from abuse, disease and suicide. According to recent statistics Houston has up to 2,500 kids living on the streets at any given time. Texas has the highest rate of homeless youth in the U.S. StandUp For Kids needs supplies for our Houston program, which provides food, clothing, counseling and a safe environment for the homeless youth of Houston. If you or your organization would like to hold a food or clothing drive for StandUp For Kids, please contact me at to

Imagine if you had no one to share or even worse, you were limited in your ability to participate in the activities you love? Now, imagine how you would feel if someone volunteered to spend time with you and shared your enthusiasm? At Kissito Healthcare, we realize that when you make a difference in someone else’s life, you make a difference in your own. We recognize that our volunteers not only make a difference in the lives’ of our patients, they are the backbone of our Community of Life activities program. We invite you to be a part of the Volunteers in Partnership program at Kissito’s Cane Island facility in Katy, Texas. All of our programs and services serve a common goal: a better quality of life for the patient and ultimately isn’t that the goal we all have for ourselves? Kissito Cane Island is a post acute and long-term care facility. Here are just a few ways you can volunteer: to read? Read to someone who has lost the gift of sight.
