Environmental Cleaning Services Company Challenge The saying goes that “you get what you pay for,” and when it comes to personal protective equipment, that is often the case. Buying cheaper safety products can sometimes mean sacrificing quality and, as a result, worker safety. Our environmental cleaning services customer doesn’t believe in skimping on safety products for the employees who are involved in the company’s parts washing, industrial waste management, oil recycling and re-refining services. To protect employees’ hands, for example, the company was spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to purchase 15,000 pairs of high-quality, chemical-resistant neoprene gloves every month. Fortunately for the company, its safety product supplier, Arbill, had been monitoring this monthly expense and recognized that it could develop a product that would help them do something unusual – protect its workers and save on costs at the same time. Arbill is proving to its customer that when you team up with an innovative safety solutions supplier, you can get much more than you pay for. Solution Recognizing that safety can sometimes come with a hefty price tag, Arbill began manufacturing the TruLine! brand thirty years ago as a highquality alternative to brand-name products. When Arbill saw how much the company was spending on neoprene gloves each month, the Arbill Account Manager with the help with the TruLine Advisor decided to develop an innovative neoprene glove under the TruLine label that would meet its environmental cleaning services company customer's needs at a lower price. Once the glove had been designed and manufactured, Arbill brought several pairs to the customer's facility for testing and approval. When it became apparent that Arbill’s TruLine gloves could provide better chemical resistance protection and were less expensive than the brand it had been using, the company made the switch. The company’s Sourcing Manager said it’s rare for a supplier to take the initiative and design a lower-cost product as an alternative. She has been impressed with Arbill’s resourcefulness. “They are a very innovative company,” she said. “They are always there to help me.” 1

“Our goal is to control and reduce spending, and TruLine is a savings to us,” she said. “We are working with Arbill to get employees in the field using TruLine products as an alternative.” Sourcing Manager, Environmental Cleaning Services Company

Results Since the customer began using the TruLine neoprene gloves, the company has been able to save between $15,000 and $20,000 a year. Arbill continues to fine-tune the design of the glove and to ensure that it is meeting the needs of employees. In addition, Arbill continues to monitor monthly reports that indicate what types of safety products are being purchased at the customer’s 180 U.S. locations. When a TruLine product can be substituted for a brand-name product, Arbill guides the company to other potential cost-saving opportunities. Next Steps Based on our environmental cleaning services company customer's positive experiences with the TruLine neoprene gloves, their Sourcing Manager wants to ensure that other TruLine products, such as safety glasses and protective clothing, are being purchased and used when appropriate. “Our goal is to control and reduce spending, and TruLine is a savings to us,” she said. “We are working with Arbill to get employees in the field using TruLine products as an alternative.”
