For example green leafy vegetables are vital for providing roughage to your body. And one of the most neglected nutrients is water. Drinking lots of water (at least 6 to 8 glasses per day) will keep your body hydrated and will help your system functioning properly. What's more, water can also be a great source of healthy skin. Don't Skip Meals for Weight Loss Another common mistake that people make when trying to maximize weight loss is to skip breakfast. Breakfast is the most essential meal of the day, and if you skip it then the tendency is to eat more throughout the day. After sleeping for 6 to 8 hours your body is in need of nutrients to provide energy for the rest of the day. Breakfast doesn't have to be a large heavy meal. Something as simple as a piece of fruit or low-fat bran muffin will give you all the nutrients you need to kick start the day. If you do decide to eat a large breakfast you can cut back on the size of your lunch by having a salad, soup, or sandwich. To keep your metabolism revved up you should have a small snack between breakfast and lunch, and lunch and supper. Again something as simple as fruit, low-fat muffins, or meal-replacement bars are a perfect way to insure that you are eating the correct number of meals per day.


For those who are on a diet trying to lose body fat, or are planning to do so, the key is consistency. Don't try to accomplish your goals overnight. Many women in their desire for an "hourglass figure" go to extremes and in the process begin suffering from such eating disorders as anorexia or bulimia. Both these diseases are related and are characterized by a false perception of one's bodyweight. No matter how skinny the person becomes they still see themselves as being to fat.
