Peggy Hasenauer, MS, RN Executive Director, Kovler Diabetes Center As Executive Director of the Kovler Diabetes Center, Peggy coordinates all aspects of Kovler’s clinical, research, outreach and educational efforts. In addition to many years of experience as a floor nurse, Peggy managed the University of Chicago Medicine kidney and pancreas transplant program and collaborated with Dr. Philipson to establish the first islet cell transplantation program at the University of Chicago Medicine. Peggy also has significant experience as a diabetes technology consultant where she worked with clinicians and individuals with diabetes to manage insulin pump therapy and glucose sensor technology. Louis H. Philipson, MD, PhD, FACP Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics Director, Kovler Diabetes Center Dr. Philipson is an endocrinologist and leading world authority on diabetes mellitus. He is also a renown researcher with interests in clinical research, insulin secretion and the genetics of diabetes. Dr. Philipson is currently president of the Chicago/Northern Illinois board of the American Diabetes Association. In 2011, he was chosen one of America’s Top Doctors by U.S. News & World Report magazine. Dr. Philipson sees patients in the Hyde Park, Chicago clinic location. Cheryl Scott Clinical Practice Administrator Cheryl is the Kovler Diabetes Center clinic manager. Cheryl joined the University of Chicago Medicine (UCM) in 2002 in the department of surgery. During her time at UCM, Cheryl has contributed to various initiatives focused on patient satisfaction and service excellence. She stands as an advocate for patients, promoting pride in support care providers and a commitment to delivering world-class care in the clinic.
