Weeks to cut usage and avoid steep price increase RESIDENTS must cut back water usage by 15% over the next 11 weeks to avoid a steep tariff increase. Kouga Infrastructure, Planning and Development Portfolio Councillor, Desmond Petersen, said the Council was very pleased with the efforts made by residents and holidaymakers to save water over the Festive Season. “Reservoir levels remained stable during our busiest time between Christmas and New Year. On behalf of the Council, I would like to thank residents and visitors for their understanding and cooperation in helping us to ensure that there was enough water for everyone,” he said. Petersen warned that the biggest water challenge now lay ahead.

“We cannot overstate how serious the situation is. Water restrictions and punitive tariffs are in effect. We need to cut back water usage drastically and meet the target set for us by the Nelson Mandela Metro by the end of March. “If we don’t, the municipality will have to start charging residents and business even more for water from April,” he said. Kouga receives the bulk of its water for domestic use from the Metro and has been mandated to decrease this consumption by 15%. Petersen said a household that uses 12kl or less water per month would not pay any more under the current punitive tariffs, which came into effect on 1 January 2017. “However, once your consumption goes over 12kl per month, you will feel the difference. For example, a household that uses 35kl

of water per month and was paying R354 will now pay R578 for the same amount of water,” he explained. “If we fail to meet the 15% target, the Council will have to consider upping the punitive tariffs from April. Those using 12kl or less water will then also start paying more while the price for 35kl of water will go up to R847.” Petersen said the last bulk water reading, taken mid-December, showed an alarming nine percent increase in water usage compared to the previous year. “We will be taking the December/January reading soon to see if there has been any decrease compared to that of the previous year’s. “The Council will do all we can to avoid steeper tariffs, but to succeed, we need everyone on board, saving water in whichever way we can.

Kouga adopts a new brand.

“Let’s make these next ten weeks count and keep water prices down. It is in all our best interest,” he encouraged. See the Kouga Express Facebook Page - Kouga Express Newspaper - for the complete new tariff list. ) Households that would like to avoid paying punitive water tariffs should aim to keep their usage at 12kl or less per month. This is the word from Van Lingen following the implementation of punitive water tariffs across Kouga from 1 January 2017. The Mayor said the tariff remained unchanged at R9,23 per kl for the first 12kl used. “The higher tariffs only come into effect when a household uses more than 12kl per month.”

Kouga adopts a new brand KOUGA Municipality is changing its image to set the tone for the next five years of governance. Executive Mayor Elza van Lingen said a new logo, vision, mission and value statement had been approved by Council for the municipality to reflect the changes expected under the current leadership. “We reviewed the municipality’s vision, mission and value statement at the strategic planning session that was held after the election. All members of Council, as well as senior staff, had the opportunity to share their input. We are very pleased with the results of these efforts,” she said. The Mayor said the new vision captured the direction in which the Council wanted to move. The new vision is “Good Governance through Service Excellence”. The municipality’s new mission statement, which reflects the purpose and focus of the institution, is: ) To create a government that addresses the needs and respects the values of “ubuntu” in our communities. ) To create a better life for all through delivering inclusive and affordable services for residents. ) To create a safe environment with diverse opportunities for economic growth and development. ) To create a responsive, accountable and caring government for all its people. ) To create an efficient, well-managed, corruption-free and legally compliant municipality. ) To create and maintain an effectively governed administration that is committed to

financial sustainability. The core values of the institution, which all employees will be expected to uphold, are: ) Service Excellence ) Accountability and Transparency ) Morality and Honesty ) Equity, Dignity and Respect ) Freedom and Fairness ) Integrity, Professionalism and Discipline ) Empathy and Compassion. The Mayor said the Council had agreed that it was important for these changes to be reflected in the municipality’s logo as well. “Rebranding can be an expensive exercise. We wanted to avoid a drastic change that would require a big budget, consequently, we decided to keep the old design but with two important changes: the colour and the slogan,” she explained. The new logo, as adopted by the Council, does away with the many colours of the former design and will be made up entirely of blue, a colour associated with trust, integrity, efficiency and communication in the branding world. The second change is the removal of the slogan “Prosperity through Vision”, which will be replaced by the new vision statement, “Good Governance through Service Excellence”. The Mayor said the changes reflected what the Council wanted to achieve for Kouga’s people. “We want the municipality to be governed effectively and efficiently while rendering the best possible basic services to our community. It is our hope that the changes will also inspire residents, enhance public participation and attract talent and investment to our area,” she said.

Ek was net so verbaas toe dit gebeur.”

Kunneke se roudiens vind vandag in Sasolburg, haar geboortedorp, plaas.

Chem-Dry scoops top international franchise award HARD work, dedication and a commitment to superior customer service have paid off for St Francis Bay ChemDry franchise owner Neil Geldenhuys and his team at Chem-Dry Coastal, as they recently scooped the International Sub-Franchise of the Year Award for 2016. Considering that there are in excess of 3 400 Chem-Dry franchises the world over, this was no small feat and one that Neil and his wife Elmien are particularly proud of. The gala event took place in Miami Florida earlier this year when Chem-Dry franchise owners from around the globe arrived at the prestigious Hyatt Regency Hotel for the annual Chem-Dry International Franchise Convention. Although Chem-Dry Coastal were runners-up to this award in 2015, Neil says that this amazing accolade still came as a tremendous surprise and a fantastic acknowledgement for his franchise team. Neil says that the secret to his success is the simple philosophy of maintaining a dedicated and well-trained team that in turn ensures ultimate customer satisfaction. The fact that Chem-Dry Coastal boasts a repeat customer base of approximately 80% bears testimony to the validi-

ty of this mind set. “I have implemented all the strategies supplied by Chem-Dry International’s training programme and guide my team in following this system on a daily basis. The key to success for any business is happy customers and a strong sense of teamwork,” says Neil. Neil leads a compact, yet highly effective team of four who service the St Francis Bay, Jeffreys Bay and larger Kouga areas. Besides being the owner of Chem-Dry Coastal, he is also the Operations and Training Manager for Chem-Dry South Africa. His wife, Elmien, joined the team in March this year and Neil credits her for playing a huge supporting role in much of his success. Internationally Chem-Dry is one of the largest carpet cleaning franchises in the world and represented in over 50 countries. Chem-Dry Southern Africa is headquartered in St Francis Bay and Neil has headed up the ChemDry Coastal branch for just over four years. Since taking over operations, his franchise has been the recipient of many awards including the National Quality Survey Award for three years running.

I want to thank Mama Sheena for changing my life, My name is Genevivi from Willowmore, I am a single mother who lost hope and money to different doctors, and prophets. Early last year I was shocked when I saw my old friend driving an expensive car, he took me home, on our way home I ask him what had changed his life in such short time. He told me his secret. He gave me a magazine with an article about Mama Sheena. I never hesitated. I contacted her and she explained to me things like: Shortboys to put money in account, Magic Ring to win money games and luck, Magic Wallet to multiply money. She also has Rats to put money in the house on the same day. She explained to me and I chose Shortboys. I followed the instructions, next thing I saw a large amount of money in my account. She asked me to withdraw her 10% and I was very excited - the money was real. And I told my sister about her and she phoned her for RATS. Now she is living a happy life. She has a Tavern business. Thanks Mama Sheena for changing our lives. From then she never contacted us and she also helps with: Lost Lover, Delete Loans, Divorce, Finish unfinished jobs by other healers. Call or whatsapp now:

JUST when one thought the final sparks of what was declared the best ever season at Bingo Royale in Fountains Mall, Jeffreys Bay, looked as if it was fizzling out, the January tourists and loyal locals decided it was their turn to enjoy themselves and reignited a second wave of seasonal holiday festivities - keeping the fun buttons firmly in place and the party atmosphere on overdrive. “It’s been non-stop, wall-to-wall action,” says Bingo Royale’s General Manager Schreuder Venter. “The action included the daily jackpot drops, as well as the weekly cash draws to the amazing car draw that was won by Erika Marlyne Oosthuizen, who walked away with a brand new Nissan NP200 on December, 17, 2016. “The month-end New Year’s Eve R10 000 lucky cash draw followed the car draw; ever since then the pace has been relentless. The venue continues to buzz and the vibe remains electric. The town seems to have caught its second wind, not only at our Bingo Royale

branch in Jeffreys Bay, but also at our other venues in the Eastern Cape. In East London Bingo Royale presented a winning jackpot cheque of R801 619.24 to an overwhelmed Sihle Gwala on December 22 last year, making this the highest jackpot winner at any of our Bingo Royale branches in the Eastern Cape.” The festivities continued in full-swing at Bingo Royale in Fountains Mall, seeing the unveiling of the first 2017 Win-a-Car draw that is scheduled for 21:00 on May 27. A lucky Bingo Royale customer will once again stand the chance to win a brand new white Chevy Utility. Weekly draws will take place at 19:00 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, as well as the chance to win daily big cash jackpots - including the R10 000 month end draw at 21:00 on the last Saturday of the month. If it is a snack you are in need of before, during or after your gaming experience, let Michelle and her team take care of you at our Bingo Royale Café situated at the venue in Fountains Mall.
