Saturday 13th July Rowntree Park 92nd Birthday Party

2-5pm, Rowntree Park The largest of the Park’s summer fairs in a riverside location with all the old favourites plus bouncy castles & trampolines, falconry, 40 community stalls and lots more. Please leave cars at home.

Sunday 14th July The York Rotary Dragon Boat Challenge

10am-4pm, River Ouse between Scarborough and Lendal Bridges The annual action-packed day of dragon boat racing with 36 local teams taking part in a series of 28 races - all organised by the Rotary Club of York in aid of Help for Heroes and other local charities. A range of stalls and activities on the riverbank will make this a colourful and exciting carnival event. For more info: www.yorkrotary.co.uk


Friday 19th July Fishing Competition

6pm, New Walk Split into 3 categories, under 12s, 12-16 and 16 to 18 years matches. The draw will start at 5.00pm with fishing from 6.00pm until 9.00pm. For more info: Tel 01904 629126. Tickets will also be available from local tackle shops and on the night priced 50p.

Saturday 20th July York River Festival Canoe Race

2pm, Millennium Bridge This event is open to paddlers of all ages and abilities and all types of canoe: Canadian canoes, general purpose, play boats, sea kayaks, river racers, K1, K2. Saturday 13th July City Centre Cycle Race

York City Centre Cycle Races just got bigger this year’s event will not just coincide with the Final of the Tour de France 2012 but will play host to the British Cycling National Circuit Race Championships and mark the launch of York’s Sky Ride. Three Big Screens will carry all the excitement of the event which will be the largest held in the City Centre of York - until of course 2014 when we play host to the Tour de France. Guaranteed to have something for all the family this will be a unique day in the City of York - and when our own Races and the Championships have finished there will be the opportunity to see the final stage of the Tour de France on the screens and the handing over to Yorkshire the Grande Depart 2014. www.yorkfestivals.com
