Grand Knight’s Message
cannot believe that a whole year has passed since I became your grand knight. I am thankful that much has been accomplished during the past year, and it was only possible with your help and support. I am looking forward to another year that will hopefully surpass the previous one in every aspect. This past fraternal year we purged our rolls so that we were no longer supporting members who were not interested in participating as Knights of Columbus. While that is unfortunate, it was necessary to save money and to update our membership to current Knights. I am looking forward to us hosting a membership blitz soon so that we can add men to our membership who are available and willing to join in our efforts to continue to advance and enhance the Parish of St. Jean Vianney. If you know a Catholic gentleman in our parish who in your opinion would make a good Knight of Columbus, please ask him to consider membership. We will be happy to talk to him or any other candidate to give a little more insight as to what the Knights of Columbus is all about. Many of our regular activities and support of our usual charities were again a success. In addition we added several activities including our bus
trips to casinos outside of Baton Rouge. Both trips were a success and we were able to make money on each one. I intend to continue this effort of offering these trips as all of the feedback that I received was positive. Everyone who attended seemed to have fun and indicated that they would attend again in the future.
If you know a Catholic gentleman in our parish who in your opinion would make a good Knight . . .please invite him to join. I believe that if you pay dues, you have a right to know what is going on in your council. I have decided to initiate a monthly newsletter (this being the first under my tenure) to reach all members. I am requesting that each of you return the small form on the bottom of page 3 so that we know if you want the newsletter electronically via email, a paper copy via postal mail or both. Please be sure to include all of the info as requested on the form. Vivat Jesus!

Fraternal Year Begins July 1st
e look forward to a successful 2014-15 fraternal year that begins next month. There is always a need for fresh ideas and new blood so if you know of someone that you think would make a good active Knight, please get them to complete a form 100 or give us their info and we will make contact.
You will be getting an invoice very soon (week of 6/16) and I ask that you pay promptly. Doing so saves us on postage and supplies as well as man hours.
As you may remember, we have moved our KC 9247 membership year from a calendar year to the fraternal year in order to facilitate the State Council’s retention initiatives (members who are delinquent in paying their dues will be contacted by the State Retention Committee members to try to retain the member). Our dues remain $45 per year starting on July 1, 2014 and ending on June 30, 2015.
