Fall 2011 Newsletter We currently have 123 members. Please send us your email address today to Grand Knight’s Message – Brothers, I am honored to be the Grand Knight of Council #5510 for the next two years. Having grown up with the council, I have seen many things change and many brothers come and go. My goals as Grand Knight are simply to increase the quality and quantity of our order, continue our services to the church and community, and have a great time in our brotherhood. I look forward to seeing more of you at our socials, meetings, and events. Vivat Jesus, Thomas Ubriaco III, Grand Knight Joe Ozoniak Pasta Dinner – The normal attendees started a fund to raise money to buy heating oil for Joe’s house but Joes’ sisters purchased oil for him before we were able. On June 2, 2011 we voted unanimously to have the Pasta and Meatball Dinner on July 16, 2011, being only 6 weeks away while I was volunteered as chairman. I picked a good team and off we went into the dark. We made the dinner a success and it was an incomparable event with 110 people in attendance. Donations were nearly equal to dinner receipts. Although, Joe requires more money to get back in his home, members able to give any amount to a brother in need please send your check to "Joe's new heart fund", he will appreciate the money. I want to thank everyone for helping make it such a success, and of course we will be doing it again next year! Fraternally, Mark Nadler, PGK Soccer Challenge – The Soccer Challenge will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 4:00 PM at the Berkshire Valley Field on Berkshire Valley Rd. across from Ding Dong Deli and Mario’s Pizza. District Deputy Corner Happy Summer! I would like to take a moment and introduce myself. My name is Joseph Miller and I am the new District Deputy. I am most humbled to serve you, your council, and the Knights of Columbus for the next years. My family is parishioners at Our Lady Queen of Peace in Hewitt where I am active in various ministries of the church. I am a member of Council 6139 where I served as Financial Secretary for over 6 years. As District Deputy, my job is to assist your council and your Grand Knight in whatever way that I can. I am his “go to” person if he has questions regarding your council operations and I am to help him communicate with you about many activities at the District, Federation, State, and Supreme levels. Being a Past Grand Knight, I am well aware of the many demands on him and I hope that all of you will give him your support and assistance in making your council the best that it can be. Part of the assistance will involve the recruitment of new members to your council. Without new members, a council will only grow older and eventually die out. As members of the Knights, we are all responsible for making sure that we help grow the Order and offer to all practical Catholic gentlemen the opportunity to share in what we have. My email address is Please feel free to contact me with your conce3rns or questions and I will do my best to respond quickly. Vivat Jesus, Joseph Miller, D.D.
