‘SNAP … Give It Your Best Shot’ amateur photographic competition Tourism Greater Shepparton (TGS) is holding its inaugural amateur photographic competition to encourage Greater Shepparton residents to become a local tourism ambassador through creative photography. Be inspired by Tourism Month, capture images in Greater Shepparton based on the theme of attractions, natural environment, local produce and product, events and festivals and sporting events. Entries will be utilised by TGS for display and promotional purposes. Shepparton Camera House vouchers of up to $250 will be awarded within the open and youth categories. A ‘People’s Choice Award’ will also be awarded, with the prize being the opportunity to spend the day with a Shepparton News photographer.
COMPETITION GUIDELINES AND RULES CONDITIONS
Entries are open to residents of the City of Greater Shepparton only. Entries will be accepted within two categories ‘Open’ (open age), or ‘Youth’ (entrants must be aged between 12 – 18 years). All entries must be submitted with a completed entry form. The ‘Snap … Give It Your Best Shot’ photographic competition judging panel’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. The ‘People’s Choice Award’ will be based on public vote, collected and tallied by the Shepparton News. The photograph with the most votes will win. Images that violate copyright, trademark or other applicable law will not be admissible. All entries may be used by TGS, its members, partners and the Shepparton News for any of its publications, website and electronic and social media. TGS may use images entered for promotional purposes. Open and Youth Category The competition opens on Tuesday, October 1 2013. Entry forms may be collected from Shepparton Camera House, McKellar’s Office and Framing Services, the TGS Facebook page or can be requested via email at email@example.com Entries must be received by 5pm on Thursday, October 31, 2013. All entries must be a jpg file and submitted on the online entry form at https://tourismgreatershepparton.wufoo.com/forms/snap-give-it-your-best-shot-entryform/ (alternatively you can email firstname.lastname@example.org to request the link). Photos must 300dpi. Winners will be notified by telephone on Thursday, November 14, 2013. Winning entries will be published in the ‘Shepparton News’ on Friday, November 15, 2013. The top 10 entries under each of the themes, and as selected by the judges will be on public display during December 2013 in various locations around Shepparton. People’s Choice Award – All entries from both the open and youth categories will be available to be viewed and voted on at www.sheppnews.com.au from Monday, November 18, 2013 until Friday, November 29, 2013. The winner will be notified by telephone on Thursday, December 5, 2013. The winner of the ‘People’s Choice Award’ will be published in the Shepparton News on Friday, December 6, 2013.

GUIDE TO THEME
In order to ensure adequate representation of the tourism offerings locally, photographers will be asked to consider the following themes when looking for inspiration for their photographs: Attractions Local produce and product Natural environment Events and festivals Sporting events The main prizes will be judged by a selection panel, consisting of three representatives all with commercial photography experience, two of which have won several awards themselves. Photographs must be sent as digital jpg files and comply with the image specifications of 300dpi. Entrants must have captured and created the original image/s themselves. Photographs must be uploaded and submitted on the online entry form at https://tourismgreatershepparton.wufoo.com/forms/snap-give-it-your-best-shot-entryform/ (alternatively you can email email@example.com to request the link). All entries are subject to the approval of Tourism Greater Shepparton. Images are for the purpose of promoting Greater Shepparton, with the aim of locals to be inspired by Tourism Month. There is an underlying theme of ‘becoming a local tourism ambassador’ through creative photography – show your pride, capture the beautiful aspects of the area, the new or most popular attractions or hidden gems that visitors may not be aware of. A landmark and its location should be immediately recognisable to those familiar with it, and should be recent (within the past 12 months.) First, second and third prizes within the open and youth categories will be judged using the following criteria: Aesthetics and quality of the image. Composition of the image. Relevance of the image to the themes. The ‘People’s Choice Award’ will be judged by the voting public. All entries within the open and youth categories will be automatically entered into the People’s Choice award. Entries will be placed on the Shepparton News website to enable the public to view online and place their vote for their favourite photograph. 2 x First Prize: $250 voucher to spend at Shepparton Camera House, framing to the value of $100 at McKellars Office and Framing Services and the public display of the winning entry. 2 X Second Prize: $100 Shepparton Camera House vouchers and the public display of the winning entry. 2 x Third Prize: $50 Shepparton Camera House vouchers and the public display of the winning entry. 1 x People’s Choice Award: The winner will have the opportunity to spend the day with a Shepparton News photographer. The top 10 under each theme as selected by the judges will be displayed for the month of December in various locations around Shepparton.
