Dear Friends of St. Joe's: Welcome to St. Joe's and to The Lights of Manhattan Lasallian Gala and Dinner Auction 2013! Although we may be at opposite ends geographically, we certainly do appreciate our down state neighbors! We are very pleased that you are able to join us this evening as we celebrate our cultural connection to “the big city,” while we again celebrate St. Joe's – past, present, and future – and our unique place in Western New York. Thank you so very much for your presence tonight! There is no doubt that the Lasallian Gala & Auction continues to be a most important event for everyone in our St. Joe's community. Our parents, alumni, faculty, staff, students and friends come together to help raise funds for student financial support: As always, every dollar raised tonight will be dedicated to assisting families who may not otherwise be able to attend St. Joe's. Our Founder, St. John Baptist de La Salle, was moved by the plight of the poor and he used his talents in education to serve the children “who were often left to themselves and badly brought up.” Presently, we are challenged with the economics of our own community, with many young people marginalized and underserved, especially in the area of quality education. The challenge for St. Joe's is to make our school and its premier Lasallian education accessible to all qualified candidates. It is our continuing hope that, with your help, we will be able to continue to offer the financial support necessary to assist our students whose gifts and talents are various and limitless … the scholar, the athlete, the artist or club participant … and often, the combination of all of these! Our goal remains to welcome every student into our community of excellence, and challenge and inspire them throughout their four years at St. Joe's. Your support this evening will assure that we carry forward with our mission in preparing our young men, not only for college, but for life! Tonight, I thank each of you for helping to make this possible. I sincerely hope you have a wonderful evening and invite you to explore and bid – bid like a New Yorker – on all of the fantastic gifts that have been donated. While you do so, please also take a look around the school – you will notice young men selling raffle tickets, playing in the Jazz Lab Band, and serving a delicious meal from Oliver's. Young men like these – minimally 7 out of every 10 of our students who receive financial assistance of some kind – are why we are all here tonight supporting the efforts of the 2013 Lasallian Gala & Auction. Finally, take the occasion to patronize and thank the individuals and businesses who have contributed their advertisement, patronage, and services to our catalog and Auction. We are most grateful for their support. Sincerely, and with every best wish for you and your family,

Robert T. Scott, AFSC President

It has been a great honor to chair the 2013 Lasallian. We have been overwhelmed by the tremendous outpouring of support of so many friends of St. Joe's. We have witnessed it all, the generosity of the donors, the students hard at work, and the tireless efforts of so many to make this a special night for a very special cause.

Thanks to the 2013 Committee:

A Special Thanks to the Following:

Cathy Greene, the Special Events Coordinator for her amazing efforts and countless hours spent to create a first-class event.

Kate LaBrake, who brings a creative flair which adds style and class to the Lasallian and all the celebrations along the way. Jim '87 and Lynn Panepinto, last year's chair couple, for their dedication to the Lasallian mission and their generosity to the St. Joe's community.

Gift Organization: Lisa Dell'Isola, Michelle Schepperly, Laura Saffire, Michelle Giles, Julie Kremer, Angela Rackl, Susan Kaminski Centerpieces & Décor: Tina Zenosky, Sue Kreppel, Barb Staggs, Kathy Kovacs, Sue Ederer, Laura Galvin

Lastly, a thank you to our parents Ned and Barb Hourihan, and Norb and Pat Kreppel. Catholic education was a real stretch for our families, but no sacrifice was too big for them. Our dads worked extra hours, and our moms were both “working moms” before the term working moms even existed! Their hard work and tireless sacrifices made a Neumann education available to Sue, and a St Joe's education available to Bob. We are still grateful!

Auction Procedures Silent Auction

Check-Out & Payment

• All silent auction areas will open at 5:30 p.m. • Bids are placed using the assigned bidder number printed on your Auction night bidding paddle. • This number matches your name with the Auction database and bank for all your bidding and purchases throughout the evening. • Each item in the Silent Auction has a bid sheet. Place a bid by printing your assigned bidder number on the appropriate line. Please print clearly, since illegible bids will be discarded. Under no circumstances may a bid sheet be removed or earlier bids crossed out. • Each opening bid must equal or exceed the minimum bid indicated and you must increase the bid by at least the next minimum raise indicated. • An item is closed when a bid is placed in the “Guaranteed Purchase Box” or an Auction Official closes the bidding area at the posted closing time. No further bids will be accepted for that item, with no exceptions. • Any bids entered after official closing of an area will not be recognized.

• All sales are final. There will be no cash refunds with goods exchangeable only where specified. • Payment in full is to be made on the evening of the Auction by Cash, Check, or Credit Card (Visa, MasterCard or American Express.) • All items and certificates must be picked up on Auction night unless other arrangements are agreed to. • Purchasers are bound by any restrictions or expiration dates as specified by the donor. Unless otherwise noted, all goods and services must be claimed and used within one year of the auction date. • If appropriate, please contact the donor as soon as possible to finalize arrangements.

QuickCheck • Check-out made fast & easy. Register for “QuickCheck” at the table in the Main Lobby foyer. • Hand in the completed form you received in the mail or stop to fill one out. You may either provide

Live Auction

a signed blank check made payable to St.

• The "First Choice" raffle drawing will take place just prior to the start of the Live Auction. The winner will select the $3,500 tuition voucher, one item from the Live Auction section or receive $2,500 cash. If the winner is not present, and has not indicated their choice on their ticket, they will be awarded a prize of $2,500. • During dinner, the Live Auction will commence and continue without interruption until all items have been auctioned. • Please hold your bidding number high in the air so there is no question of your intention to bid. Do not hesitate to verbalize your bid. • Decisions of the auctioneer are final. • The winning bid number will be recorded and will constitute the bidder's agreement to pay this amount.

Joseph's Collegiate Institute or provide your credit card information (Visa, MasterCard or American Express.) • At the end of the evening, head to the “QuickCheck” table in the Cafeteria. Review your final purchase statement for the evening and then head directly to Gift Depot to pick-up your items. • We will complete the payment process for you. Following the Auction you will be mailed a final purchase statement, as well as a reservation statement (if applicable) summarizing your total purchases and any tax deductible amounts.

St. Joe's has endeavored to catalog and describe the donated goods and services correctly based on the information provided by the donor. St. Joe's makes no express or implied warranties whatsoever, including estimate of value with respect to any items sold. All goods and services are auctioned in “as is” condition. In the event that a donor defaults in providing a promised service or the item purchased, the refund by St. Joe's is limited to the amount paid Auction night.

Multifocal lenses significantly improve your vision after cataract surgery. They are lenses that offer patients with age-related vision loss an excellent chance to regain youthful vision and possibly become free of glasses. For patients with existing corneal astigmatism, we offer toric lenses to achieve distance vision without glasses.
