Booz & Company provides a level of operations expertise unique among general management consulting firms and we have a strong operations heritage having been at the forefront of operations leadership including coining the term “supply chain management” in the early 80’s and developing tools like the PERT technique. Our definition of operations includes product and process development, manufacturing, sourcing, distribution, supply chain strategy and service/back office operations. A:  I worked with a marketing team at a large pharmaceutical company to develop an ecommerce strategy for one of their products.  This is a new concept in the pharmaceutical world, so required us to become intimately familiar with regulations while also pushing the envelope on current practices. The project also included end to end fulfillment process development and supply chain solution design. I really enjoyed this project because I was able to apply my pharmaceutical and operational knowledge to an innovative strategy.  Q: If you could describe Booz & Company in one word— what would it be? A. Relatable Q: What’s on your iPod? A: Michael Franti and Spearhead, Jack Johnson, Matt Costa, Lumineers, Black Keys, Imagine Dragons Q: What do you do for fun, outside of work?  A: Run, ski, travel- my next trip is to Peru for a 4-day trek to Machu Picchu!

PROJECT EXAMPLE: Network Design to Meet Global Opportunities A leading internet retailer planned to expand in Europe and enter into Asia, but needed a global logistics strategy to support these plans. Booz & Company developed a new logistics strategy and network alternatives in Europe and Japan, as well as an overall global logistics management framework. This included developing a high level market understanding, quantifying major cost factors and drivers, modeling network alternatives, and identifying critical service and cost trade-offs. We also established decision guidelines to assist management and facilitated senior management discussions. The resulting strategy laid out a clear approach for the client to expand their business, and meet their service and cost requirements.

POTENTIAL CANDIDATE PROFILE For all our practices we are looking for candidates who have prior experience in and / or strong passion for a particular industry or function. As well as possessing core consulting attributes and skills such as; excellent problem solving and analytical skills, demonstrated teamwork and leadership and academic excellence. For the Operations Practice we also seek: – Formal education in Operations related degrees—Operations Management, Engineering, Operations Research, Manufacturing, Service Operations – Relevant Operations functional experience in areas such as, Supply Chain, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Engineering, Performance Improvement, Cost Reduction, Lean Six Sigma, Logistics – Leadership qualities demonstrating ability to manage people, drive sustained impact and create a sense of community—true team players – Good salsa dancing expertise : )
