the concept of the un project started from a potluck restaurant idea. every traditional korea potluck table is arranged according to a strict diagram, where the main dishes stand in a row down the length of the black rectangular table. the dishes are arranged in a very specific way on the table.

first, the main dishes stand in a row down the middle of the table. second, the side dishes line the main courses on both sides. finally, individual servings of rice, soup, and sauce run the edge of the table. the restaurant is buffet style. the food is presented on the central row of tables cprresponding in location to where the main dishes stand on the korean potluck table. since the idea was inspired by the korean traditional dining table, the plan of a traditional palace was an inspiration for the design of the building.

bi-directional wall office design bridging between the interior and the exterior the goal of this design is to create the bi-directional wall advertising agency office in an urban town house which bridging the interior space and the exterior space. the idea of this design is ‘use of light as a design element to pursue this goal. through this design, i created the dynamic and aesthetic wall with having logical design solurions. bridging between the inerior space and the exterior space material: form*Z, Wood, paper

t

he goal of this design is ‘use of light’ that may be considered mostly important in the subject space to interior design. It also possesses a func tionality to execute design for the subject space to interior decoration so as to make such space more comfortable by taking the sun lights into the space to its maximum removing various factors under the premises of creating the space subjecting to interior decorations where sun lights can be brought into the inside making best use of the incident direction of light and that space. Based on the premise that the beam coming into the subject space to interior decorations shall be formed according to the angles by latitude and longitude, this work focused on creating a design in order to produce comfortable environments where lights can come in through any time during a day. In the process of creating such design, logic was established in the course of producing design patterns that can be hung up on the wall or window where lights get through. Considering the case of falling light directly, all was cut lengthwise, and according to directions of light that moves differently by time slot, and having adjusted the angle of incident lights considering all time zones, ‘score’ was rendered. Having considered possibility ofcoming the light into the place according to time zone following either latitudinal or longitudinal angle, it was done by ‘Fold.’

t

This was to look for a possibility of the light that comes in from the east and vanishes to the west. Also, to open a possibility for the lights coming from any directions, the design was executed so much as to bring about the maximum effect with ‘Interlacement’ of two identical designs. For ‘Fabrication,’ this design created a maximized form where the effects of designs related to light and shade could be occurred to its maximum intending not only for maximization of the light, but also for the shades that will be formed naturally by such light using ‘unfolding’ function of form*Z program in the subject place to interior decoration.

Resuscitating: experimental form This design focused on creating ‘experimental form’ having compared the shapeof melting candle according to time slot. Based on the flow of melted wax that changes little by little according to surrounding pressure and situation along with time lapse, the process of shaping of dropping that can be developed from each different look of fluid was captured. And the design was developed by choosing the most significant process of changes.Creating a line out of such dynamic movements that selected, and regarding the flow having been changed according to each time slot as a height, ‘consecutive experimental form’ was created having brought togetherness of flow and the time zone into agreement. 5 minutes

if divided into a half, this coffee table maybe suitable for a small space by using only one leg, and if users want to use this table as in a larger size, so then they can do so by connecting the table legs built on same desgn continously. owing to the connection of the form of table leg located at the place uniformly with same design under each leg to the groovers underneath the table, this coffee table is strong, enough with sophisticated design exhibiting neat and tidy look

jaewoun kim What is the most important thing you want to achieve in your life? How much did you do your best for achieving your goal? Have you ever made desperate efforts for it? If someone asks me these questions, I would say this moment is the most important time in my life. I should try to make efforts desperately to get what I really want. “To be an interior designer” is a goal of my life. So, I believe that having experience to work at this company is the best way to make my dream come true. My father, owner of a construction company, always said to me ‘Think creatively.’ Under his influence, I naturally contemplate architectural works, sculptures and interior spaces through my father’s work ever since I was young, and thanks to this environment, my interest gradually grew toward the design of interior in this field and I do believe that this company can help to develop my artistic talents. By studying art, I found great interest and artistic talents that I couldn’t realize before, and I gradually could form solid foundation for art. Based on this personal interest, I made myself familiar with artistic sense attending steadily an art institute and fostered my dream about being a designer. Learning art I have found my artistic talents and interest in me I couldn’t realize before, and I gradually could form solid foundation for art. I also had a strong will to learn English when I was young in order to keep up with the world. Since I was a child, even if sketchbook was in my hand every moment in my life and I had much stronger passion for art than any other persons.

pursue this goal. Through this design, I created the dynamic and aesthetic wall with having logical design solutions so that this space could be remarkable space in an urban town house. This is also my ultimate object of this design. In this project, creating this office design I tried to show my ability for design. The theme of this design is ‘use of light’ that may be considered mostly important in the subject to small space interior design. It also possesses a functionality to execute design for the subject space to interior decoration so as to make such space more comfortable by taking sun lights into the space to its maximum removing various factors under the premises of creating the space subjecting to interior decorations where sun lights can be brought into the inside making best use of the incident direction of light and that space. With making concept model for the agency, I tried to show the various shapes of light and it can also make another atmosphere of design by shading. As I am standing at the most important moment I have been waiting for. To become an interior designer I have done my best to achieve my goal overcoming many difficulties. I have another goal, the biggest one in my life. I hope one day to design practical interior facility for disabled. If I am accepted to this company I believe it is a closer step to my dream. I am ready to work harder. I desire earnestly to study interior Design, so every moment I am sure to do my best and work passionately.

However, I decided to enter into the Department of English Language and Literature because I thought I should first study English in order to study abroad. After improving English in a proficient level, I decided to go to US to perfection my English skills. During that time, I traveled Europe with my brother for 2 months and was able to appreciate a different architecture styles and I learned new meanings in architecture that I couldn’t see. During staying in foreign countries, I learned new meanings in architecture and interior design. This was a major impact on my life. Each country in Europe had different culture, architecture and interior. They had their own characteristics. Also I was able to feel the historical relationships between culture, interior design and architecture characteristics. Their interior design was considered rather than contemporary which was very impressive and had a great impact on me. New York, a wonderful city where past and present world cultures coexist, was deeply impressed on me. Ancient historical architectures and classical interior space in there were naturally harmony with each other and not totally about these fabulous buildings. In New York, a kind of culture aggregate, I met with various museums, art galleries and artistic culture. Above all, at that time I knew how great this company is. The this company located in Manhattan that is proud of its own unique artistic effect had all aspects of artistic facts that I was always looking forward to do. This is the very moment where I can start to realize my dream after graduating my university. I passionately started to prepare a portfolio. Preparing portfolio I did my best to integrate my interest on computer program and art, which I have learned steadily. I also did my best to express my thoughts. As well, I attended many English and Art classes in New York City with achieving TESOL Certificate course to improve my English skills more. I could realize education method in Parsons The New School For Design is more systematic and it has higher standard of education. And, Could get 5 different scholarships. And, thankfully, my studio work will be shown in the parsons work book. I sincerely hope I will be be a part of company. In my creative work, I tried to create a small advertising agency office where could be a symbol of an urban townhouse. The goal of this design is to create the bi-directional wall advertising agency office which bridging the interior space and exterior space. The idea of this design is ‘use of light’ as a design element to

And, Now I am even much clear that this company help me to explode my ability, creativity, and bring me to the next level. Thank you for considering me as your candidate. I will do my very best. Thanks,
