We read in the Book of Psalms: “Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain” (Psalm 126:1). It is with this faithful spirit and trust in God’s providence that our forebears started the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Lancaster almost 100 years ago in 1921.

The best way to honor our pos usic r e / m history is to look ahead to the next 100 years with the same spirit of faithfulness, conviction, and vision – to give to the next generations what past generations have given and entrusted into our own hands.

As we movemeahead into the next hundred years of ministry and service, there is no question that n's toilet r we are calledoo–mas Orthodox Christians and as a Church – to be less concerned with preserving and maintaining, and more concerned with growing and expanding the witness of our Faith to classr oom all people. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS classr

oom classr

oom

Q:

cou

Can the proposed 5 Phases of the Master Facilities Plan be completed in any order?

Yes, with the exception of Phase C: Kitchen Renovation & Addition. Phase A: Restroom Addition must be completed prior to the kitchen renovation. The rest can be done at any time deemed appropriate by the congregation.

Q:

What is the process by which each of the phases of the Master Facilities Plan are approved for execution?

Each phase recommendation of the Building Committee will be first approved by Parish Council. It will then be presented for approval by the parish at the annual Congregational stair torage Assembly or, if sneeded, at a special parish meeting. Phase A: Restroom Addition has already been approved by Parish Council. The intention is to obtain final approval by the parish at the Special Congregational Meeting on October 14, 2018.

Q:

How will this project be funded?

Q:

What is the time line for completing all 5 phases?

Funds for Phase A: Restroom Addition are already available and allocated by Parish comm ercial Council for this purpose. Funds for the remaining phases will be raised. A fund raising kitche n committee will be formed for this purpose upon approval of the Master Facilities Plan. Parish Council will also budget a certain amount each year to the “building fund.” There is no time line. Phase A: Bathroom Addition is to begin immediately, upon approval by the parish. The remaining phase development will depend on how quickly the funds can be raised and the desires of the parish.

Q:

Why don’t we just build a new church? socia

Building a new church is extremely expensive,ll requiring land acquisition and bank financing. Simple comparisons of costs and funding options show that renovating and adding to our current structure is a more favorable plan. corrid
