AHMEDABAD NAGAR TRANSIT SYSTEM (ANTS) THESIS PROJECT


ABOUT A.N.T.S. Urbanisation of cities can be the test beds for new kinds of systems that can effect a big change in the way cities evolve and function. One such system, the Bus Rapid Transit system (BRTS) in Ahmedabad was chosen as a reference point for this project. The main focus was on mobility solutions for the city by ironing out the kinks in the current transport system while embracing its positives in terms of philosophies and principles. The final outcome of the project was a modulebased mass transit system which solves the problem of accessibility in context with the ever-increasing space crunch in Ahmedabad


THE SYSTEM • LOOPS: A group of units loop around the two ends of an important route.

ROUTE A

• INTERSECTION: Such loops meet at intersections and form a chain of loops. • SERVICE: Each loop has a customer service and maintenance unit. • UNIT DENSITY: The number of units in each loop can be decided on the basis of the width of the lanes, Population and traffic density, time of the day and the day of the week. The Frame holds the whole vehicle together also also providing ease of maintanence because of the simple assembly of the vehicle parts.

The Floor of the vehicle contains the slots for the track and also an extra battery pack in case of emergency. The vehicle normally runs on power obtained from the tracks below.

The Top Module of the vehicle connects with the track on the top whenever the vehicle has to climb up, either to allow the traffic to move underneath or to climb to the platform

The Drive Module contains the unit which obtains poer from the track, the communication unit, GPS and sensors to detect the environment around it. It can be easily replaced in case of a failure or malfunction.

• The Figure shows the working of the system based on the route map designed above. The intersections are the important stations and they are used for interchange. • The planning of the routes and the stations helps the user to reach from his point of origin to the destination by changing the line once most of the time leaving some exceptions.

Here the emphasis was on creating a very minimalistic yet informative layout illustration of the city. Every element, from a dot on the map to the colour and thickness of line has been put together to give the user a clear idea of his locations in the City. (on the left)


FERRARI F-70 FERRARI HYPERCAR DESIGN COMPETITION 2010


F70 is the next-gen Ferrari hypercar designed as a replacement of the Ferrari Enzo. It is a Hypercar without any compromise using Pneumetic system to generate extra amount of boost for the car. The car is an effort to break away from the current design language of the ferrari and come up with a new identity and stance for the Italian Supercar.
