MOROCCO KIRKER HOTELS We feature some wonderful properties covering a range of styles, from small, family-run riads to the finest luxury hotels. For each hotel description we retain editorial control and are therefore able to provide you with a balanced and unbiased view of each property. To help you choose the hotel best suited to your needs, please telephone 020 7593 2288 and speak to one of our expert consultants who would be delighted to share their first-hand experience. If you would like to view photographs of our hotels, please visit our website where you will find a number of images for each property. However, please remember that website photographs can sometimes provide a seductive picture that may have been taken through rose-tinted spectacles on a sunny day – speaking to one of our experts is a better way to help you select the right hotel. The following icons are used throughout the brochure to help you choose the hotel that best suits your personal requirements: Spas are increasingly popular and a great way to relax and unwind whilst away on holiday and a number of our recommended hotels offer exceptional spa facilities. The green icon indicates that the hotel has its own golf course, or a recommended course nearby which can be pre-booked by the hotel’s concierge. Many of our hotels are perfect when taken exclusively for a private party to celebrate a special occasion; quotations on request. Moroccan towns traditionally have a medina which is a large, central area of housing with narrow lanes and alleys. Because of hot weather conditions, these houses, known as riads, do not have windows on the street, but look inwards to a central courtyard with a garden. The rooms tend to be long and narrow and face onto the courtyard from the four sides of the house. As riads are in the medina areas, you should expect the street life to be boisterous and bustling; however once ensconced in your chosen riad, it will be a haven of peace and tranquillity.

PRIVATE TRANSFERS Our holidays include transfers by private vehicle with assistance on arrival and departure – instantly removing the anxiety that many experience when arriving in unfamiliar destinations. No taxi queues, no fare negotiation – just a warm welcome and a smooth journey to your chosen hotel. For tailor-made holidays featuring a range of destinations, we always include private transfers throughout. NB for some riads it is not possible for the car to drive to the entrance and guests may have to walk for the last part of the journey.

THE KIRKER CONCIERGE We aim to offer a service that is complete from start to finish, whether you would like us to recommend and book a restaurant for a celebration dinner, arrange private guided tours, we take full responsibility for the smooth running of every aspect of your holiday. Our brochure includes a number of suggested itineraries, however, we must stress that we offer complete flexibility. Although we are not necessarily the cheapest, we do aim to offer exceptional overall value for money and rely on our clients for repeat bookings and recommendations for our future success.

SPEAK TO AN EXPERT Our sales team has many years of experience and we make regular visits to the hotels and destinations that we feature. Clients often comment that they have seen a tempting photograph on a hotel’s website but would prefer to speak to someone with experience who knows the property, because they need to find out what it is really like.

ADDED VALUE For holidays to Marrakech and Fes we include a private walking tour with an excellent local guide – this is the perfect introduction to these fascinating cities. You will find details of special offers at many of our hotels throughout the brochure, giving you complimentary nights or room upgrades. We speak to our contacts to negotiate the very best offers and prices every time we receive an enquiry.

KIRKER GUIDE NOTES We are proud of our knowledge of the destinations we feature and have prepared some useful Guide Notes to Marrakech giving invaluable information on restaurants, bars, museums, shopping, markets and sightseeing. The Kirker Guide Notes will be sent to you with your travel documentation – please do ask us if you would like a personal restaurant recommendation, our Kirker Concierge would be delighted to book a table on your behalf.

GROUND ARRANGEMENTS ONLY If you have already booked your own flight tickets, we would be happy to book all other aspects of your holiday, e.g. transfers and hotel accommodation. Prices are quoted immediately and include breakfast, tax and service at the hotel, plus transfers and Kirker extras such as private walking tours.

GROUPS & INCENTIVES If you are taking a group away to celebrate a special occasion, or if you would like help planning an incentive reward for your staff, we would be delighted to assist. Morocco has a number of smaller properties which can be taken exclusively for smaller groups. Please telephone Enrique Novella or Alex Carey on 020 7593 2283.

PRIVATE JETS If you are planning to celebrate a special occasion in style, why not consider taking a small group of friends on a private jet holiday? Oualidia is a sleepy village, three hours drive from either Marrakech or Casablanca. We recommend a few days here as part of a tailor-made itinerary. It is situated on the Atlantic coastline yet sheltered from the ocean by sand banks that have formed lagoons often used by flamingoes on migration.

The old Kasbah town of Agadir was toppled during an earthquake many years ago. Never rebuilt, it remains a place from which to contemplate nature’s power and to view the ocean.‘New’Agadir stretches out along the bay and is a modern, attractive resort which flanks a vast sandy beach. It benefits from a year round temperate micro-climate akin to the Canaries. Nearby places to visit include Taroudant and Immouzer-Des-Ida-Outanane (once the site of a French Foreign Legion outpost).

La Sultana **** Deluxe La Sultana Oualidia is a luxurious haven built up against the cliffs and looking out over the waters of the lagoon. Although new, it has been designed in the style of a Kasbah, solidly crafted by local artisans using stone and natural materials. The 11 bedrooms are decorated in a modern, Mediterranean style. They are spacious and have a terrace, jacuzzi and sea views. There are attractive gardens, a restaurant and an excellent spa with an indoor swimming pool, sea-water jacuzzis and a number of treatment rooms. 3 night price from £1,098 per person.

ESSAOUIRA This charming seaside town is just over 100 miles west of Marrakech. Originally a fortified emplacement created by the Portuguese in the 15th Century, it is now a delightfully unspoilt town with a reassuring lack of modern bars and clubs – little has changed since Orson Welles directed his film Othello here in 1952.The wide, sandy beaches are just five minutes’ walk from the town walls and for much of the year the cooling sea breeze helps to ensure that the climate is relatively mild. The port is still a working harbour with repairs and construction being undertaken and there are a number of excellent fish restaurants. It has one of the last authentic markets frequented by relatively few tourists. L’Heure Bleue ***** A member of Relais & Châteaux, L’Heure Bleue is a luxurious riad set in the heart of the medina and a short walk from the port. The 12 rooms are complemented by hand made furnishing and decorations and the most modern of facilities. The internal courtyard is the perfect place to relax and sip a cooling mint tea and even has a retractable electric roof which lets sunlight into the building. The rooftop terrace offers some of the best views in Essaouira and breakfast is served here in fine weather. The spa ‘L’Ôsmose’ and hammam offers traditional Moroccan massages and treatments. 3 night price from £739 per person low season, £798 per person high season.

The rooms have no telephones or televisions and guests tend to socialise whilst enjoying the excellent hospitality of the charming owners. A popular hotel so we recommend that you book well in advance. Prices are based on suites. 3 night price from £519 per person.

Le Mirage **** Superior Located 15 minutes’ drive from the centre of Tangier, close to Cap Spartel where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean, Le Mirage has a spectacular setting overlooking a vast sandy beach (steps lead down to the beach from the hotel’s gardens). The 25 bedrooms and suites all have terraces and many, like the pleasant piano bar and restaurant, overlook the sea. This is an ideal place for relaxation – there is a swimming pool, fitness centre and sauna and the beautiful beach is not easily accessed by the public so is always quiet.
