This year we are combining our soup lunch with a ‘Teddy Bears Picnic’ to enable those with young children to bring them along – complete with a favourite teddy – and have some fun. The event is at Kirkby church hall on Saturday 14th May from 12.00 noon to 2.00 pm The original idea of our Bread & Soup Lunch is that in exchange for a donation you will receive a simple meal. This may be more basic than your usual Saturday lunch but will represent far more in terms of food and calories than the meals taken by families in the third world. If you haven’t been before please come along and try our delicious homemade soup. You will find a Christian Aid envelope in this newsletter, with a slip setting out how to return it. Please give generously to this really worthwhile cause which does so much to redress poverty throughout the world.
Maria would like to thank very much the congregation of St. Augustine’s Church for the beautiful silver photograph frame given in recognition of her 6 years as Church Warden.
