Kirkby & Gt. Broughton School It doesn't seem five minutes since I accepted the job of Headteacher at Kirkby & Gt. Broughton CE Primary School in July 2005, yet it has been my second „home' for almost 6 years. It seems to be true that time in school whizzes by faster than everywhere else! At the close of this Spring Term. I leave To go too larger primary school in the south of the County, I shall of course be very sad to soy goodbye to everyone but especially to leave children, teachers and families who really do become your other family when you work in a school. The school is in great heart and looking forward with anticipation to what lies ahead. With a brilliant and dedicated staff and a highly committed and knowledgeable governing body the school is certain to continue along its successful path. The children of course are the school's greatest asset and I shall miss them most or all. At the time of writing this, the governors are involved in the recruitment process to appoint a new Headteacher for September 2011. For this summer term we are all delighted that Mrs. Celia Wilson, currently Heodteacher at Marwoad Infants School in Gt. Ayton, is going to be our Acting Headteacher, dividing her time between her own school and ours until a new Head is appointed. Of course nothing ever stays the same. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to work in partnership with parents and with the wider community and I shall miss the warmth and generosity of so many people, I will always keep in touch with the world of Kirkby and Gt, Broughton, treasuring really happy memories of fun musical productions, outdoor education days at East Barnby, the visit of the Archbishop of York and special times in church. It will also be a great wrench to leave those fabulous hills behind - I shall miss their ever changing moods on the drive to work each morning. I know the school will continue to go from strength to strength and I wish everyone connected with the school and its community all good fortune for the future ************************** We hope to see friends and families in our end of term service in St Augustine's Church on 7th April at 1100 am or at our annual and world renowned duck races in the beck at 1.30 on the same day. The V6s are looking forward to the ritual of full wellies and escaping ducks - and I know I am too. School is again collecting Tesco vouchers. There is a box in the entrance at school.
