WELCOME I am a third year Interior Design student pursing a Bachelor of Science degree in the CIDA accredited Interior Design program with a minor in both Leadership Studies and Business at Kansas State University. Entering college, my interests spanned a wide range, but I eventually chose Interior Design just before my sophomore year because it is something that I have continually been intrigued my whole life and I knew it was something that would constantly challenge me. Interior Design is ever changing industry that I continue to learn more about every day, and it only makes me more passionate about being in a world where I can help be a part of transforming spaces to work at maximum functionality for all users.

Adaptive Reuse Hotel & Rooftop Bar Project 2018 – 2019 NEWH Green Voice Design Competition

CONCEPT In 1855, a group of people were traveling down the Kansas River in a steamboat called The Hartford. While passing by what is now known as Manhattan, Kansas, it got stuck on a sandbar and they decided to stay. This concept was woven into the design by the naming of the individual levels to match a steamboat and much more.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION This partner project used adaptive reuse techniques and WELL Building Standards to create a boutique hotel with a rooftop bar/restaurant and a “green” shipping container guest suite.

PROJECT GOALS The clients wanted to create a “destination” dining and small boutique hotel complex. The goal was to develop a vision for the main lobby, roof-top bar/restaurant and the unique “green” guest suite aspects of this project.

Individual Project | Over-the-Rhine, Cincinnati, Ohio

Healthcare Project

CONCEPT The concept is Metamorphosis: “The process that living things go through as they change form in different stages of their life.” This is similar to how the city is undergoing dramatic changes and how children go through different stages in their life. The word “Mariposa” translates to “butterfly” in Spanish in an effort to help recognize the culturally diverse community.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION This project was located in Over-the-Rhine, which was undergoing extreme revitalization efforts in their neighborhoods. The objective was to redesign a building on the western edge of the most developed part of the town.

PROJECT GOALS “The goal for this project was to investigate the needs of a community that is rich with cultural diversity and undergoing some dramatic changes in effort to revitalize neighborhoods to support residents of all socio-economic levels.”
