Megan O’Hara lives in the Quispamsis area with her mom. She has an older brother , Ryan who lives with his wife and baby girl “Ellie” in Alberta. Megan not only helped out at KWCC but also at Kennebec Manor, our sister home. She loves running, biking or hiking in the Saint John & surrounding area because, “It’s so pretty”. She is currently finishing her MA thesis in Gerontology focusing on family/friend caregivers for older adults & provincial supports available to them. Congratulations & God Bless!

KWCC is holding the annual Halloween Party on Saturday, Oct 26th From 1PM-3PM. Please sign up at the reception desk if you are coming and how many children or grandchildren you are bringing. The residents love to see the costumes and hand out treats. Also, a tour of the “spooky hallway” will happen again this year.

Presently we have two retired firemen: Brian Jensen and Larry Greer who are always quick to sit in the driver’s seat. Unfortunately, we are so active, we could use a few more. Just 1-2 times a month would make a world of difference and give our current volunteers some assistance. Winter Clothing It’s time to get the winter clothing out!! We would ask families to go through their loved one’s closets to remove summer clothes thus making room for the winter clothes. Sorting thru the clothes will keep them in better shape and help with over-crowding.

Apple Crisp Fundraiser Once again, we are having our annual fall Apple Crisp Fundraiser Fundraiser.. The cost is only $5.00 for an 8 x 8 square pan. Orders may be placed and paid for at Reception before Oct. 4th. They will be ready for pick up late in the day of October 9th, at our upstairs kitchen. Just in time for Thanksgiving!!

Congratulations to KV Drugs Congratulations to KV Drugs as our new pharmacy supplier for both our homes, KWCC & KMI. By further streamlining our operations, our residents and staff will soon benefit from this service. With the support of KV Drugs, this year we will be able to transition too a better medication administration system as well as electronic documentation of medications...providing even safer medication management. As well, all staff will now have access to a group purchasing discount program. Resident billing will continue to be processed through KV Drugs. Bulk Food Purchasing Program The Foundation is very excited to inform our staff, residents’ families & volunteers that we will now have a bulk buying program from one of our food suppliers – Sysco. Here is how it will work:

We all remember that feeling of receiving a gift and opening it up on Christmas morning. The excitement, wonder, curiosity, joy and that feeling of love. Knowing someone cared enough about you that they gave you a gift. A gift of love. Kings Way Care Centre is pleased to once again be gearing up for the annual shoe box campaign! Please join forces on your neighborhood or get your children and family involved. Empty boxes may be picked up after October 1st at KWCC and once boxes are filled, they can be dropped off at the front desk or on any neighborhood. Donations are also welcomed to assist with shipping these gifts to the waiting children all around the world! Cost is approximately $7 per box to ship. Here are some ideas of what to put in your box: * school supplies
