Long Live The King...Off With His Head!

Here at the Kings the staff are like one big family, though ‘for better or worse’ (using this phrase humorously!) the Kings Theatre is currently undergoing some staff changes! Emelye Dwyer, our Marketing Officer has ‘reluctantly’ decided to move on to greener pastures as a professional dancer, and left us on the 15th April 2011 for the bright lights of stardom! We wish her all the luck in the world and hope it all works out for her. Though she will be greatly missed this does open up the opportunity for

Proud to welcome back… Blood Brothers “The Musical For All Time” returns to the Kings In 1982 Willy Russell decided to turn his small, relatively unknown production Blood Brothers into a full scale musical, and we are all thankful that he did. Blood Brothers is one of the longest running musicals in the West End celebrating its 21st year, during which it has won numerous awards. The story revolves around twin brothers separated at birth, one brought up in a wealthy family, the other with his biological mother who is struggling to pay the bills. A Well Rounded Education Here at the Kings we take education seriously, organising numerous events and plays aimed at younger theatre fanatics. This summer we are giving young thespians between the ages of 7 and 17 the chance to attend a Dance, Musical or Technical summer school from 9am to 5pm each day for a week. By the end of the week the musical group will have auditioned, rehearsed and performed their own production of Annie Junior, and the dance group will have auditioned, rehearsed and performed their own showcase of a variety of dances. Icarus Bring Macbeth to the Kings The Icarus Theatre Company was founded in the winter of 2003/2004 by Max Lewendel, and is made up by a team of artists. “Each artist acts part-time on each project and has set tasks and responsibilities. In this way the projects can happen simultaneously and the company maintains a clear, strong artistic vision.” The Kings are happy to announce that the theatre will be the production venue and coproducer for Icarus Theatre company’s national touring production of Macbeth, opening in September. Their previous productions include; Coyote Ugly, Albert’s Boy, Othello & Hamlet to name a few,

showing off their vast variety. Icarus was also voted Best Production Runner Up at The Guide Awards 2010 for their production of Journey’s End at the Kings.
