10am – 4pm

Acting Techniques and Workshop A day given over solely to the acting of Shakespeare. In the morning there will be an introductory talk on the nature of the Shakespearean text, and how to approach it as both an actor and a Shakespeare Enthusiast. Followed by a Shakespeare Acting Workshop – open to everyone and completely free of charge.

Looking Back and Dropping Names – Andrew Jarvis - A life with Shakespeare over a 53 year career. A personal history, with recollections, reminiscences and anecdotes – of Theatre, Film, Television, Radio and Commercials – followed by a Questionand-Answer session. The central point being that Andrew is not a star – but a simple jobbing actor who has managed to keep working for over 50 years. The evening will therefore be about a journey – a description of what the job has been for him over those years. What it has been like for someone who The Guardian Theatre Critic Michael Billington once described as: “Royal Shakespeare Company Warhorse Andrew Jarvis”.

In the afternoon a workshop demonstration by Andrew Jarvis and Scott Cripps. The observation of this Workshop will show how to release the Shakespeare text, via two professional actors working together.

Sun 24 Apr, 10am – 4pm

The day is about trying to remove the ‘No Entry’ barrier which many people have in their minds when it comes to Shakespeare. We will explore how we attract the audiences who currently attend Sporting Events - in particular Football and WWE. The morning will consist of lectures and discussions on the theme of the connection between Football, Sporting, Entertainment and other branches of entertainment - and Shakespeare. The Shakespeare Festival has recently worked closely with King’s Lynn Town Football Club, on advertising and sponsorship deals - with the aim of breaking down these barriers. It is hoped that staff and players of KLTFC will be present, in order to share their thoughts, hopes and aspirations on the subject.
