Coronavirus (Covid-19): Policy on remote working
The following policy applies to all staff who carry out their work remotely away from their usual place of work. • •
• • •
Full contractual terms of employment apply as normal, except with regard to any clause pertaining to place of work. A member of staff who is remote working is required therefore to work their usual hours as detailed in the terms of the employment contract, unless otherwise agreed by their line manager. All staff working remotely must be contactable and available at any point throughout their usual working hours. The productivity of a member of staff working remotely is subject to the same expectations and oversight in relation to output and quality as is the case at their usual place of work. Staff should use designated shared communication platforms to ensure timely and effective communication will all parties as appropriate. This should include any times throughout the day during which they are unavailable, for example when part of a meeting. Lunch breaks should be taken as normal but times can be varied to suit individual circumstances. Leave to attend personal appointments, for example for medical appointments, should first be requested and agreed as in the usual place of work. Subject to strict adherence of Government policy or advice, the Company reserves the right to require a member of staff who is remote working to switch to working at their usual place of work at designated times or for designated purposes.
This policy will be under constant review, and may be subject to change to keep in line with business need or Government advice relating to Coronavirus (COVID-19) advice. The Company fully appreciates the personal circumstances of each member of staff are different and any request to vary the above policy will be reasonably considered on a case by case basis. We have also produced a guide which provides some additional tips for a healthy, balanced and productive approach to remote working. This is available to view here: Tips for Remote Working
