Coronavirus (Covid-19) Kings response to UK Government announcement
In light of the developing Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis, the UK Government has today announced a significant escalation in the restrictions placed on the movement of all people within the UK. In line with many other countries around the world, all people in the UK will be required to stay indoors wherever possible, only being permitted to leave for essential food shopping, to attend medical appointments or for exercise once per day. This directive is set to remain in force for the next three weeks. We would like to reassure you of the steps we are taking to ensure that the students under our care will remain fully supported throughout this period. As we have now moved to remote learning via our online platform Classmate Plus, there will be no impact on the teaching your students will receive. All students will also be able to access the support of our student services and welfare teams, either by phone, email or social media. Students currently living in our residences will be able to stay in their accommodation which will operate as normal. They will be informed of this latest development and supported within their accommodation as required. While this situation will be difficult for all people in the UK, including your students, we at least regard the scope and decisiveness of this action as proof of the UK Government’s intention to deal effectively with the spread of the virus within the UK. As such, while it will present challenges in the short term, we are hopeful that it will reduce the long-term impact of COVID-19, which of course is in all our interests. We are sure you will understand that this situation is entirely out of our control. We look forward to getting back to our usual operation as soon as possible. In the meantime, we want to reassure you that no matter what the circumstances, we will continue to ensure all our students are safe, supported and motivated to achieve their learning goals.
