Coronavirus (Covid-19) Kings Colleges Deferral and Cancellation Policies (UK) The following deferral and cancellation policies relate specifically to Coronavirus (COVID-19). They relate to students applying for, or currently following, an academic programme in the UK.
1. Future students i. All students who have booked future courses will be able to defer their courses until a later date with no penalty. ii. All students wanting to cancel future bookings will be refunded in full (except for enrolment fees).
2. Current students All students currently following academic courses are strongly advised to complete their course in order to proceed to university without delaying a year. The summer term is due start on Monday 6 April as planned. Any students who cannot attend school for reasons connected to Coronavirus (COVID-19) will be supported by their teachers remotely through Classmate Plus, an extension of our online learning platform so that they are able to complete their course work, assessments and homework. Any students who are not able to take exams may impact on their ability to complete the course. Students in the first year of their courses (for example GCSE and A-level) would be able to continue onto their second year as normal provided they continue to complete all set work and set assignments to the required standard. However, these students may be required to take additional classes during their second year to ensure they can achieve their desired learning outcomes. These classes would incur additional cost.
3. Temporary school closure In the event of temporary school closure Kings will continue to support students in all aspects of their course, accommodation and welfare. Students will be fully supported by their teachers to continue their studies remotely. This will be achieved through a range of complementary delivery methods which we are launching under the name Classmate Plus. These will include use of online technology for learning; enhanced use of Classmate, our own online learning platform; and small group tutorials. Course work, assessments and homework would continue as normal. All accommodation would remain open as usual and there would be no change to the welfare support available to students.
4. Cancellations Students who are unable to complete the last term of their course in the UK (ALF, A2, GCSE) will be offered a credit for one term’s tuition if they choose to retake the year starting in September 2020 or January 2021. This will be subject to availability and all current fees having been paid in full. iii. All other cancellations are subject to our standard Terms and Conditions below.
