KINGFISHER INTERNATIONAL FAMILY NEWS

AUGUST 2018

ISSUE 5

The power of prayer Last month saw the fourth International Day of Prayer, as thousands of believers from the UK to the Philippines came together in prayer for our world. Acts 4:31 records that, in the wake of the disciples praying together, “…the building where they were meeting shook and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit.” Believing, powerful prayer shakes things - not just buildings, but belief systems, entrenched attitudes, spiritual atmosphere and more. We are beginning to hear about the shaking that is happening in the light of this year’s IDOP. From a growing youth outreach and multiple baptisms in the Philippines, to new pastors being trained in Malawi and new opportunities for Kingfisher to expand into Rwanda, to a new church being planted in Delhi and church growth in the Punjab, the ‘shaking’ is beginning to be felt!

This month, our National Director in Malawi, Charles Mithowa, is travelling to Rwanda to conduct a Kingfisher Leadership training meeting. There is a small team there who are interested in opening a Kingfisher church and want to be trained. God has blessed Charles with an abundant harvest of maize this year, which he is using to finance this visit. Our teaching materials are also now being used in Cameroon, Central Africa. Spearheaded by The Cameroon Centre for Evangelisation and Hope under the leadership of Pastor Hyacinthe Obam, a growing number of pastors and leaders are being taught these materials.

Prayer changes far more than we realise

There is a shaking the is happening around the world. A huge evangelistic event is being planned in the Punjab, India this October, where 20,000 - 30,000 are expected to attend to hear the gospel, organised by church leaders who last year attended our first Conference in that region. All of this springs from the prayers of the saints, a central part of which has been the IDOP. Thank you for your prayers and let us never give up bringing our nations before God, believing for the heavens and the earth to shake as a result.

In the Philippines, God is bringing about transformation among the DEP students, with many of them excelling in their studies and being fast-tracked through the education system. Why is their progress so remarkable? Not just because they are being sponsored by people from Kingfisher, but because they are being prayed for. Prayer changes far more than we realise - it shakes things up and causes breakthroughs in ways that are beyond our expectations.
