Volunteer of the Month We are pleased to have Layton Peck come to KWCC on Fridays and share his talent. Layton Peck has been playing guitar since 1964 and has been performing professionally since 1976, encompassing hundreds of venues, many different musical styles, and real life engagements in every Province of Canada, also in The United States, The Caribbean, and Europe. He has taught music, specifically guitar for the Ottawa Board of Education, Ken Parisien Music in Ottawa, privately (on and off over the years), and most recently was a guitar and Western Music Instructor at the Naad Academy in Surrey BC. He has had success as a guitar teacher, both one on one and in a class setting, making 'having fun, making music' the top priority. It has also been his privilege to work and perform live with several major Country, Pop, Folk, Rock, Punjabi, and Jazz recording artists, and bring a level of maturity and wealth of experience to the teaching and learning of music through guitar. Thank you for sharing with us and God bless you!!

Lakefield Elementary School School Lakefield Elementary School has taken a keen interest in our home and the wonderful folks that live here. They have invited us to take part in several different classes in this school year. Every two weeks, residents travel to the school to take part in both an Art History class hosted by students in Corinna Lamontange’s grade 2 class, and a Yoga class hosted by the students of Tracey Meahan and Kerry Underhill’s grade 3 classes. The folks in the Adult Day Program have been invited to become pen pals to the students of Patti Doyle and Jane MacGillivray’s grade 1 class. They have already been sent a letter and are in the process of responding. We are so fortunate to have folks in the community who know and appreciate how important it is for seniors and children to be given opportunities to work and play together. The friendships and close bonds that are developed are so heartwarming. Here is to a funfun-filled, educational and exciting year - back to school!!!!! Thank you so much Lakefield Elementary School, we love you!!!

Christmas Shopping Bazaar Please Join Us Kings Way Care Centre December 5, 2013 10:00M – 3:00PM Comfort Clothing Tanjay Oodles of Icing Gemcat Jewellery Nancy’s IWK Shelley’s Aesthetics Studio Kennebecasis Drugs Lucy Marshall Kate Rooney Pam’s Jams & Jellys Over the Top We all feel a little out of sorts when we are having a ‘bad hair day’. One of our Care Support employees at Kings Way Care Centre-Vicki O’Neill also works in our Hair Salon. Vicki goes above and beyond to ensure our residents have their esthetics needs met. She is wonderful, caring, patient and offers an individual outlook to each and EVERY resident. There are so many wonderful looking hair do’s. Not only that but they are all different to suit each resident in an individual way. Normally what you see is the same hair cut with rollers. We are all so proud to say that her attention to detail while giving care to residents does not just stop at the hair, but their total beauty appearance, like removing facial hair, etc. Even the male residents get cuts and shaved to suit their needs. Vicki never seems hurried and know the desires of the residents and of how to improve their looks, just as they would have expected in their younger years. Vicki’s mom, Jean is also a resident here at Kings Way Care Centre and what a joy for her to see her daughter on a daily basis. If you look good, you feel good!
