You, too, could achieve your own celebrity status. Think Coco Chanel, Vera Wang, Rachel Zoe, Mary Kay Ash, Stella McCartney, Bill Gates, Henry Ford, the list goes on and on. These people all started doing their own businesses and they are so good at it, they became stars—no need to go to auditions, no slaving for exposure, just the prize for good ‘ol hard work and intuition. The great news is, the door to their league is not closing. You could be one of them too! You have to start somewhere in doing a business. No matter what industry you’d like to penetrate, remember two things. Do what you do best. And think big but start small. If you want to be known in your business, then you should do something you really, really like. Doing business is not about doing something that makes the most profit. It is determining your passion and making a business out of it. This way, you won’t need to work a day of your life. Well, you have to work but then, you will also be enjoying it. Your main goal would be for your business to achieve credibility and thus, gain the trust of the market. In short, be No. 1 in your chosen industry. But that doesn’t happen overnight or even in a couple of years. You have to start somewhere and most often, you have to start small. No worries. Most of this century’s notable entrepreneurs have humble beginnings. You can also get there by exhibiting excellent professionalism, lots of hard work, and the winning attitude of perseverance. Also remember, act like a celebrity from Day 1. I’m not saying you can flash around in glamorous attires and fancy limousines, or start acting like a prima donna. Becoming a celebrity means setting up a good public image. Whatever your business is, you will have to deal with people. You must be personable while being a professional. Dress right. You make the right impression by taking care of how you look in public. You need not invest in Louis Vuitton bags, or Chanel dresses, or Prada heels. Just wear the clothes that are right for you and wear them with confidence.
Most importantly, don’t neglect your business. Your business’ outstanding image in the industry is your ticket to shine. Once you get there, don’t be afraid to go out in public! By exposing yourself, you will endorse your business. And by endorsing your business, you will also endorse yourself. After all, it’s a twoway world.
