Therefore Go‌

April 2014

Hi there I trust that you are well. I must apologise for my newsletter being so late this month. It has been a month of some great faith victories, some challenges and not a few uncertainties. With that in mind I wanted to wait a few days so that I could give you a proper update on our news and our coming move to Cusco. We have finally been able to set the date for our move for the 15th of July—just over a month to go! A few nights ago Jaime and I were reminiscing over how we first met, the crazy faith we had when we started our relationship and how I basically packed up and moved to Peru not too sure of what awaited me on this side. As we spoke we realised that our move to Cusco is quite similar. Remembering God’s past faithfulness and provision has helped to strengthened our faith as we prepare to take this next step of faith. Thank you for being a part of this great adventure with us. We might not be too sure of exactly what awaits for us in Cusco, but it makes such a difference to know that we have friends who are covering us in prayer and are trusting with us for God to establish His Kingdom through our family and ministry. Much love, Kim

Visit to Villa Maria…. This last month Jaime, Kai and I had the wonderful opportunity to visit the children’s libraries of Simon Bolivar and 19A. The students from Fe en Accion continue to do an excellent work in the Simon Bolilvar library each week and it just filled my heart to see so many new children attending. It was also encouraging to see the kids at 19A. The kids have grown so much in the months I have been away. We are hoping to visit a few more times before we leave.

The Every Nation Ministry School Over the last few months it has been a joy to be able to serve as part of the team that is developing the academic curriculum for the Every Nation Ministry School. I have been helping to write the Theology Module and I must say I have really enjoyed getting back into some academic work. Today I heard that 46 students have enrolled for the school which is starting in just 3 weeks. Please trust with us that this will be a life transforming season for the students

Renova…. This last month our faith in what God has called us to in Cusco was tested. As we were on the point of legally registering Renova, one of our partners had a personal challenge that made it difficult for him to be a part of the company. We were unsure of how things would proceed, but we felt in our hearts that God was calling us to continue on the course laid out for us. Thankfully things have been resolved and although we will probably be starting with a project a bit smaller than initially planned, we thank God that this challenge has only helped to cement our conviction of where God is leading us.

Christian Surfers….

Jaime continues to serve in Christian Surfers. This last month he was asked to share in the weekly meeting. Using surfing terminology, he spoke on what it means to be a “Christian” surfer and challenged those there to live out their faith in a visible way in the surfing community. He also helped to organise a surfing day trip to the beaches south of Lima for some of the young, up and coming leaders in the group. Apart from searching for some good waves, the purpose of this trip was to strengthen relationships and their commitment to Christian Surfers.

Thank you for praying! Thank you so much for praying for my application for Peruvian nationality. After two weeks of hard studying, in which I had to cover a vast amount of information ranging from Peruvian geography, history, culture and politics, I wrote the required exam on the 16th of May. Although I was a quite nervous (it had been a long time since last I had written an exam), I thank God that I ended up getting 19.5 out of 20 and came in the top two out of the 35 people who wrote the exam. I am now just waiting for immigrations to present me with my certificate of nationality which I should get in the next few days. After this I can process my Peruvian ID and passport. Thank you for standing with me in prayer! I am almost officially a Peruvian!!!!

Please keep us in your prayers….

As you can imagine, this month is a very significant one for our family as we prepare for our move to Cusco. There is still much to be done, but at the same time we really do have great peace in our hearts (much of which we know is the fruit of your prayers!). Please could you continue to trust with us for the following over these next few weeks… 

I still have a great deal of admin still to do with regards to processing my nationality. I have to get my ID, change Kai’s ID so that my new number features, update many official documents, and get the house ready for the removal company to come. Please trust with me that everything will go smoothly with no hiccups.

Please continue to pray for our Renova team and that God will give us wisdom to know how to proceed as we seek to initiate the project in Cusco. Please pray that the hearts of the community in Cusco will be open to receive us and the hope we seek to bring . Please keep the staff and students of the Every Nation Ministry School in your prayers as they prepare for the start of the first intensive in the first week of July. 

Above all please pray that, despite the busyness, God will help us to find moments to come back and draw strength and encouragement from Him. 
