“and then they had openend their treasures”
Glass works The prayernut is a medieval devotion object forthe personal experience of faith. It is a carved wooden object in the shape of an open fold nut. It was seen as a travel companion, but also as an altar, a place of stillness. The prayernut also had a special way of using it and opening the prayer note in your hand was equal as opening a ‘new’ visual and sensory world. The contradiction of focussing in line with our current society fascinates me. The prayernut was an accessory that represented the era of the 16th century. An accessory that can no longer be imagined in the contemporary image of the time and a travel companion that is such a contrasts with the today’s travel companion.
