EXCELLENCE IN ART SINCE 1963.
With the summer art season in Jackson set to open, we are pleased to present our annual High Country Summer Show and Sale, featuring all new works from our entire roster of artists. As we go to press, new art is arriving in the gallery on a daily basis and the selection of artwork is quite expansive, ranging from western subject matter and wildlife to impressionistic and figurative works. Please note that our newsletter provides just a sampling of the available artwork that will be featured in the show, so I encourage you to visit our website where you can view the show in its entirety. We are pleased to take this opportunity to welcome wildlife artist Ezra Tucker who has recently joined the gallery. On the following pages, we are featuring a select group of recent works that showcase Ezra’s bold and distinctive style of painting. His work conveys acute observation and knowledge of his subject matter, combined with an intimate and emotional portrait quality and adept storytelling ability. Montana landscape and sporting artist Brent Cotton is also featured in June, with a showcase of new paintings inspired by the landscapes and rivers close to his home in the Bitterroot valley of Montana. Brent is highly regarded for his mastery of creating a sense of peace and tranquility through light, atmosphere and a subdued palette. An avid outdoorsman he can often be found standing in one of the local rivers with a fly rod in his hand or on the oars of his drift boat. Looking ahead towards the rest of the summer, we have a full schedule of events that you will find listed here for your convenience. Additionally, our 9th annual Jackson Hole Art Auction will be held on Saturday, September 19th at the Center for Arts. I look forward to having you attend one of our shows or drop by the gallery if your travel plans this summer bring you to Jackson, Wyoming. In addition to our website, you can also visit us across various social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest where we have developed a strong following of art enthusiasts! Introducing EZRA TUCKER
Ebb, 11 x 14 inches, Pencil, $1,800
Flo, 11 x 14 inches, Pencil, $1,800
SHOWCASE OF NEW WORKS Ezra Tucker developed an early and avid interest in wildlife art. By the age of twelve Tucker knew with certainty that he wanted to be a wildlife painter. He pursued his formal artistic training at the Memphis Academy of Arts; however, he spent most of his time doing life studies at the Memphis Zoological Gardens, located next-door to the college. Tucker quickly realized that the light and life behind the eyes of animals in captivity differed from the wild spirit of those living in their natural habitats, and he committed himself to depicting animals as one would paint a human portrait – capturing their personality and depth of feeling not just an anatomical likeness.
