M A R C H 2 015

With our spring newsletter, we are pleased to bring you an offering of new works that are now available in both our Scottsdale and Jackson locations. Specifically, our Scottsdale gallery is currently exhibiting “A View To The West” a show that celebrates our western heritage and the finest in traditional western art, both historic and contemporary. Among the familiar talents participating in the event are Bill Anton, Jim C. Norton, Bill Nebeker, Z. S. Liang, Logan Maxwell Hagege, Shawn Cameron, John Demott, Steve Atkinson, Stan Davis, Brenda Murphy, Jan Martin McGuire, Alfredo Rodriguez, Cynthia Rigden, Marlin Rotach, and Bruce Lawes among others. I am also very pleased to take this opportunity to announce that during this event, we will feature at least one major new work from multiple award-winning Cowboy Artist of America member, Martin Grelle. As he winds down his term as the 2014 President of the Cowboy Artists of America organization, Martin still has a full plate of duties ahead as the CA organization approaches its 50th Anniversary Celebration later this year. Understandably, his busy schedule has taken some time away from the easel, so we are very grateful to Martin for working closely with us and producing a new work for our show.

Jenness Cortez, St. Joe to San Francisco, 15 x 20 inches, Acrylic, $30,000

Also in Scottsdale this March, we are pleased to present a showcase of new works by Utah based painter Bruce Cheever. Known for his affinity for tonalism and luminism. Cheever’s atmospheric and bucolic landscapes are inspired by scenes close to home as well as from travels abroad. Our annual Wildlife Discovery show in Jackson, Wyoming brings together an outstanding group of nationally acclaimed wildlife artists who paint all things wild! This distinguished group of participating artists interpret the highest quality North American wildlife art as well as wildlife from around the world. I hope and trust that the works featured in our event enrich and inspire appreciation and knowledge of humanity’s relationship with nature. I would also like to take this occasion to announce that renowned still life and plein air painter Joe Anna Arnett has officially joined Trailside Galleries. As Joe Anna would be apt to say, “The subject of a painting is nothing more than the artist’s opportunity to express herself in form, color, line, atmosphere and mood.” Married to fellow artist James Asher since 1985, together they have embarked on a lifelong adventure of traveling and painting together throughout the world.

Dustin Van Wechel, An Intolerable Unkindness, 40 x 34 inches, Oil, $10,000 (For Sale by Draw on March 19th)

As you browse through the newsletter, please keep in mind that the images shown are just a sampling of what the gallery is currently featuring, so I encourage you to visit our website for a more comprehensive look. And as always, we look forward to hearing any thoughts or comments on how we may better service your art needs. Bruce Cheever, Morning Fog, 18 ½ x 27 ½ inches, Oil, $7,500

Trailside Galleries is pleased to now be representing New Mexico artist Joe Anna Arnett. She earned a BFA degree from the University of Texas and later continued her studies in fine art at the Art Students League of New York. Married to fellow artist James Asher, Arnett is an avid traveler, seeking out locations around the world for her painterly oils that are infused with a mastery of color temperature and value and shape relationships. Many recent subjects have been inspired by travels to France, Italy, England, Ecuador and Guatemala. “I love travel, and my art is a response to what I encounter,” she says. Arnett is a master artist on “Passport & Palette” the art instruction and travel series airing on PBS stations across the country. She not only appears on the show, but also produces and writes for the program. In 1997, she became a Master Artist of the Artists in America Show at the Denver Historical Society Museum. She has also exhibited at museums around the country and in 2006 she was honored by the Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa, OK as one of their featured artists in the Rendezvous exhibition. A Signature Member of Oil Painters of America, Arnett has written articles for The Artist’s Magazine, American Arts Quarterly, ART Ideas and Australian Artists Magazine Digest.
