EXCELLENCE IN ART SINCE 1963

This February we are pleased to host a month long show of landscape works that will be on exhibit at our Jackson, Wyoming location. Landscapes have always played a significant role in American art. They convey the artist’s subjective interpretation of nature’s moods and mysteries. We know that artists have been painting the landscape since ancient times. The term landscape is derived from the Dutch word landschap, which originally meant region or a patch of land, but in the early 1500’s it acquired the connotation “a picture depicting scenery on land.” It was around the 17th century that the classical landscape was born. Influenced by Classical antiquity, the treatment of landscape was highly stylized or artificial aiming to capture the quiet pastoral beauty of ancient Greece and Rome. In a classical landscape the positioning of different elements in the painting was cleverly planned in order to present a harmonious and balanced mood. In the second half of the 20th century, the definition of landscape came to include Matt Smith, Hog Springs Autumn, 12 x 16 inches, Oil, $3,300 urban, industrial and architectural settings. Today, the landscape continues to be a subject artists turn to when contemplating nature and the way we relate to the land and places we live. We invite you to share in the spirit of the American landscape and to stimulate your senses with nature’s splendor as captured on canvas by artists Bill Anton, Brent Cotton, Kathleen Dunphy, Michael Godfrey, Lanny Grant, Francois Koch, Ralph Oberg, Andrew Peters, Matt Ralph Oberg, Vernal Awakenings, 48 x 68 inches, Oil, $28,000 Smith, Paul Waldum, Kathy Wipfler and Dinah Worman. Going forward, we have a diverse grouping of shows scheduled in the galleries for this winter and spring. Below is the listing of shows through April. You can also visit our website to view dates and times of our upcoming events.
